MARIJUANA: Pot doesn’t cure anything

Re: “Veterans push to smoke pot to ease PTSD, other ailments” (TNT 4-7).

I read this well-written article with interest and alarm. Unfortunately, subjective anecdotes about healing Post Tramatic Stress Disorder by using marijuana only confuse the issue. Pot will make one high and may even make the bad dreams go away, but at what cost?

No matter how you cut the cake, medical marijuana doesn’t cure anything. It is a dangerous psychogenic class one controlled substance. If the American Medical Association, Food and Drug Administration, National Institute of Health and National Academy of Sciences bless its use, I would not be responding to this article.

And, yes, I was in Vietnam(1969-70) as a Marine Corps combat officer and saw firsthand the effects of trauma.
