ARIZONA: They were for it before they were against it

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer did the right thing with her veto of anti-gay discrimination legislation. But the fact remains that similar legislation is moving forward in other states, as well. We’re looking at you Kansas, Mississippi, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio. Take heed.

Some Arizona legislators who voted for the measure allowing public business owners to use their private religious beliefs to discriminate against gay customers had second thoughts. And not because of any new insight into the law of the land. Belatedly, the lawmakers realized major economic repercussions could ensue if the governor signed the measure into law – not the least of which might be the NFL moving Super Bowl 2015 to a state which upholds the Constitution.
