MARRIAGE: Don’t equate marriage, same-sex unions

Re: “Limits on marriage equality falling across the country” (TNT, 2-18).

At a time when many decry calling upon the name of Jesus Christ because it may be offensive to some, I openly take offense to your headline implying that the falling limits on same-sex unions equates to marriage equality.

No matter how many times you say a cat is a dog, a cat will never become a dog. Same-sex unions can be made legal throughout the land, but they are still same-sex unions.

One of the greatest gifts our creator granted each of us is freedom of choice. However, we must accept the consequences of those choices. Same-sex relationships cannot procreate, and they do not foster male-female role models – both significant benefits to society.

At the same time they promote immorality and a distorted view of true happiness. A traditional marriage conveys those benefits, and much more, to society. Calling such unions marriage does not change anything. A cat will always be a cat and a dog will always be a dog.
