NFL: Cantwell’s political correctness is now blackmail

Sen. Maria Cantwell and the liberals are going too far. As the chairperson of Indian Affairs, Cantwell should be focusing on internal Indian issues like unemployment and education rather than grandstanding about a name change to a professional football team.

The Washington Redskins have been competing for over 60 years in the NFL. They have won championships several times. Their team name and logo are now hot political potatoes. Cantwell is now threatening NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and team owner Dan Snyder with political blackmail. Change the name or move out of Washington. The federal government owns the land where RFK Stadium resides.

I have some team names for Cantwell. How about the Maroons, the Minutemen, the Progressives, the Generals, the Obamacrats, the Confederates, the Treasonists, the Founders, the Federalists, the Crab Crawlers, the Star Spangle Banners, the 1812ers, the Roosevelts, the New Dealers, the Masons, the Traitors, the Congressmen, the Americans, the Union, the Democrats, the Drones, the Bootleggers, the Law Breakers, the Political Pundits or the Mainstream Media Spin Doctors?

There are many team names that honor minorities. There are the Indians, the Braves, the Seminoles, the Utes, the Chippewa’s and the Fighting Illini.

Cantwell and her colleagues have exceeded their representation of government. When politicians involves themselves into private business and threatens retribution, it’s wrong.

Political correction has gone too far.
