Re: “Charity to make payments to families of fallen troops” (TNT, 10-10).

I don’t want to hear excuses that it’s the Republicans’ fault or that the president is just doing his job. The commander-in-chief has betrayed the armed forces by refusing to support the war dead – which he put in harm’s way – and their widows.

The Senate and the president have shown they consider themselves above the promises and obligations this nation owes its armed forces (the dead, the living and the veterans). It is so obvious they do not consider the dire need of surviving families of the war dead a national priority.

It is totally inappropriate for a benevolent organization to step in and pay the government’s bills while the government plays politics. To the president and the Senate, I say shame on you.
