When it comes to the so-called war on terror, we’ve all been told by our government that these terrorists “hate our freedom,” and we must fight them tooth and nail to save our way of life. The way we do that is to launch military campaigns against places like Afghanistan and Iraq.
What have we gotten out of the wars there? We’ve spent a ton of money and have a debt approaching $17 trillion to show for it. We have thousands of dead and wounded young Americans to show for it, and, through our interventions, we’ve generated enough hatred in Middle Eastern counties to keep the ranks of the jihadists staffed with recruits.
All our policies of meddling in the affairs of Islamic countries is a wonderful way to keep the war on terror going for decades, to keep getting young Americans killed and maimed for no good reason, and to add more to our national debt. If we truly want to win and end this war, we should withdraw entirely from the Middle East and stop intervening in Islamic countries’ affairs.
Islamic nations don’t hate our freedom; they hate out meddling.
