HEALTH CARE: For-profit system a national disgrace

National politics has completed its descent into spectacle over substance, one party extremist, the other craven and cowardly. Republicans work their followers into a lather over Obamacare, conveniently forgetting to mention that it was they who birthed the concept and Mitt Romney who first implemented it in Massachusetts.

The president and Democratic leaders sold out single-payer without a struggle, afraid to extol the simplicity, efficiency and economy of socialistic Medicare as a model far superior to the sacred free market.

Our politicians are bought and sold by an interlocking corporate crime syndicate otherwise known as the medical insurance, pharmaceutical, medical supplies and hospital industries. Almost nobody talks about the real culprit: out-of-control costs.

We are left with the obscenity of a self-regulated for-profit health care system, a system not permitted in any truly civilized society and which is bankrupting us both individually and as a nation.
