VERDICT: Sad message for young black men

I have read with interest the letters to the editor about Trayvon Martin. I did not know that it is illegal to have tattoos or a gold tooth.

George Zimmerman was told by the police to stay in his car. If Zimmerman had not ignored the instructions from the police, Martin would still be alive today.

The message that all young black men should take from this is to be careful about how you look. If you look wrong to a white person, then it is open season on you. You can be legally killed for doing nothing wrong, just wearing the wrong clothes, having tattoos or a gold tooth.

By the way, I am white and thankfully so. I would hate to be a young black man in this society.
