NSA scandal? Let’s put it in perspective. I’m not aware of any law enforcement, or for that matter, any other investigative agency, workplace or just social gathering where you cannot expect to receive on a frequent basis some derogatory information on another member of your community.
It’s just a fact of life, and the electronic/technology industry has just enhanced how it gets put out there for all to dwell on. Gossip has been with us forever. However, the persona of a gossip is to offer without remorse what they know, and what they construct to excite the conversation and give themselves some measure of self-importance.
Now, let’s fast forward to the NSA. OK, every day it is gathering multitudes of information, probably even from you or me. Is it being used in some gossipy fashion? No, like most investigative agencies realize, there’s a limited benefit because we still are a nation of laws.
What gets used and how it’s used has a set of rules that are a long, long way from being a personal affront to any but those who would probably be a threat to our safety. So, calm down and let them operate.
After all, we’ve got our elected federal representatives looking over their shoulder, don’t we?
