GOVERNMENT: ‘Hope and change’ is now ‘duck and cover’

The Obama administration is under scrutiny for a variety of scandals. There are many questions about the tragedy in Benghazi, the intrusion of phone records by the Justice Department into the Associated Press and the incredible issue with the IRS targeting conservative groups for opposing political views.

We’ve all seen the news and the “official” response.” Jay Carney, the press secretary of the White House, tolls the line: “We didn’t know” or “The president was not aware” or “We are investigating this issue.” This is unacceptable to the American people. We all want to know if the leaders in our government are honest. Can we trust them? All of America wants the truth.

The hearings in Congress will continue. Make no mistake. The officials of our government should be required to answer tough questions. We all want to know if our government is abusing its power over us. Lois Lerner, a high official of the IRS, took the Fifth Amendment to remain silent. This is her constitutional right. However, this does not pass the “smell” test. It’s apparent there could be some suppression of delicate and incriminating information by our government.

The truth of all these issues will leak out. Some whistleblower will emerge and divulge the dirty laundry. Then we will know the truth. It’s sad we have to go through this.

This may be a long, hot summer for “hope and change.” Government is becoming too powerful. How about “truth and responsibility”? Just a thought.
