US OPEN: Taxpayers shouldn’t pay for security

I hope our elected officials protect taxpayers from the expected security costs at the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. Seems to me, if the promoters of the U.S. Open can offer $8 million as prize money, they can pay for their own security. Citizens in University Place will be inconvenienced with the influx of fans, the media, and most won’t benefit financially from any money golfers and their fans bring to town. Welcome to University Place, but pay for your own security!
