If we are going to have a conversation about the homeless in Puyallup, then I would hope that we could get our facts straight. The idea that our local churches are opening their doors to drunk and high homeless people and, therefore, all the homeless are flocking there in the winter is almost ludicrous.
I have noticed an increase in what appear to be homeless people in the last several years, coinciding with the worst economy since the Great Depression, and it is concerning. I would caution everyone in Puyallup to stop and think where they would be without family and friends to support them in their time of need, and then make it a point to be at the next city council meeting on April 16th. I would hope representatives from Freezing Nights, the library, and our lovely city will be there so we can all be well informed.
