POT: Marijuana poll results are bogus

The front-page acclamation that “Majority of Americans back legalized pot for 1st time, poll says” (TNT, 4-5) is sensational, misleading and irresponsible reporting.

If anyone took the time to read the research notes tucked away on page 6 they would discover a sample of only 1,501 adults was made (probably from Seattle’s Pike Place Market) – hardly enough to qualify the findings as reliable, valid or statistically significant. But the declaration does make for great headlines, selling newspapers and framing public opinion.

Shame on you, News Tribune.
