For those who think American taxpayers aren’t paying their “fair share” in taxes, take a look at the variety of taxes imposed by state and federal governments. There is income tax, property tax, payroll tax, death tax, inheritance tax, business tax, gasoline tax, health care tax, sales tax, capital gains tax, corporate tax, estate tax, gift tax, excise tax, land value tax, energy tax, Social Security tax, liquor tax, electric car tax, vendor tax, consumer tax, sin tax, hotel tax and the list goes on and on.
If you’ve got it, make it, sell it or create it then you’ll be taxed on it. The federal government generated tax revenue of $2.8 trillion in 2011 yet it spent $3.8 trillion.
Nancy Pelosi stated the government doesn’t have a “spending” problem but rather a “budget” problem. Oh really? This is a classic spending problem. The government is spending more than it takes in, plain and simple. Therefore, the government’s answer to this situation is more taxes, more money and more spending. It’s a never-ending circle of incompetence.
Our country is spending itself into oblivion. Our nation’s debt is at $16 trillion and growing at $1 million per minute. The federal government needs to practice sound fiscal policies and spend what it can afford. Stop using the taxpayers as an endless source of money and manage our resources responsibly. If we ran our personal finances like the government then we’d be broke and living on credit. Oh wait, we are.
