PUYALLUP: Re-establish trust with the community

Once again the Puyallup School District’s bond request has been rejected, and I hope that will be the case until adequate changes are made and trust is re-established with the community.

I have been a resident here for 16 years and, during that time, witnessed Emerald Ridge High School and Carson Elementary School projects, just to name two, that have been disappointments from the beginning.

Emerald Ridge was underbuilt from the start. Portables were brought in almost immediately to solve the space problem. It was claimed they brought the project in “at” or “under” budget. This was proved not to be the case.

If the school board is willing to do some housecleaning and become proactive with the community, there is a good chance a bond issue will pass. Currently it deserves nothing.
