GUNS: What does race have to do with it?

Re: “About 1 in 12 Washington state adults can carry concealed pistol” (TNT, 2-3).

Reporter Rob Carson characterizes those in line for a concealed carry permit as “mostly white men.” I am not sure what he is implying here, but what does the race of people applying for a concealed carry permit have to do with anything? This is outrageous. Imagine the outrage if any other ethnic group had been characterized in this manner.

What is wrong with this country that every issue has to be painted with a racial brush? This country used to be a “melting pot” and we the citizens worked for common goals. Yet increasingly the media, special interest groups and politicians imply there is a racial motive in almost every issue, dividing the citizenry into numerous factions, destroying our ability to focus on our common goal of making the state and country a better place for all citizens.
