TACOMA: Vote yes for our children and schools

I am a senior citizen, and I volunteer in a Tacoma public school. Just by chance, it happens to be the same school I attended from 1948 to 1954, completing the sixth grade. It is also the school my children attended in the 1960s and ’70s.

This wonderful school is Mary Lyon Elementary, and it has not changed since I walked those halls in the ’50s. The same lockers are there, the same cold bathrooms, hot in one end of the building and cold in the other. The basement is also still the same as it was.

I am on a very limited income, but feel I could give up something for $5 a month to help update our schools and help our children learn. Our teachers are so dedicated and do a terrific job. Why can’t we make it more comfortable for them and our children, who are our future? My yes vote is in the mail. How about yours?
