I was pleased to learn that the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, under the leadership of Tom Pierson and board president Brian Haynes, lent their support to Proposition 1 to invest in Tacoma schools.

This recognition from our business leaders is extremely important; they are the ones who depend on a skilled, motivated and educated population to drive our economy. This endorsement underscores the partnership that must be strong between our schools, our campuses, apprenticeships programs, tech colleges and the business sector.

I applaud Tacoma Public Schools for promoting this visionary investment in our schools and the chamber for its support of this effort. It is imperative we work collaboratively for our community and, most importantly, for our kids.
