PUYALLUP: Schools are a good investment

I am encouraging all registered voters to support the Puyallup School District bond issue Feb. 12.

Some years ago I had the good fortune to retire from private industry. During my years in the labor force, I saw firsthand the value of a good education. Today, I have the greater fortune of serving in the Puyallup School District supporting a wonderful young man with special needs. I see daily the hard work and commitment of our entire school community dedicated to serving all students well.

Our public schools serve the public good. We have an obligation to endow our future by investing in our educational system. This bond will provide important and necessary new construction and upgrades to existing facilities all across the district.

Each student, now and into the future, will benefit from your support. Our students, including those with greater need, deserve every opportunity we can provide to ensure they reach their fullest potential.

Districtwide, we have far too many students learning in portables and inadequate classroom spaces. And our community continues to grow. With strong leadership, clear school board direction and citizen involvement, the district has a history of being good stewards of limited resources.

Don’t miss this opportunity to show your support for continued great schools. Great communities have great schools. Please vote.
