BUDGET: Senators need to do their job

Management of government is no different than a family or business. If you spend money without any plan, the result will be bankruptcy. Our federal government has no plan.

One of the job requirements for the Senate is to pass a budget every year. It has not passed a budget for nearly four years. Why are the senators still being paid their salary?

Our country is in trouble due to irresponsible spending. All efforts of the conservatives are rebuffed, ignored and ridiculed. The first bill passed by the Senate for Hurricane Sandy aid included money for fisheries in Alaska, free money for the secretary of health and human services, and repairs to the Smithsonian.

What does any of that have to do with Hurricane Sandy? Only one-third of the bill was directed to the victims. Is it any wonder the House refused to bring that bill to the floor?

Even the bill that was passed to avoid the “fiscal cliff” included $430 million in tax credits for Hollywood, $70 million for NASCAR and $59 million for algae growers.

I understand this is just “business as usual” for Washington, and the people did vote for four more years of big government, big spending, massive regulation and a government that knows better what is good for you than you do.

What will happen in our country when we can no longer borrow to fund all the social programs this administration is planning to foist on America?
