The Second Amendment says nothing about guns for hunting. It was written because the British tried to confiscate all guns owned by settlers in the West. These same guns were used by settlers to fight for the right to self-governance; they formed militias. If politicians are nervous about citizens owning guns, then the Second Amendment is doing its job.
I am not a member of the National Rifle Association, but I am gun owner. I don’t own an AR type of weapon, but I think I should have the right to. I should also have the right to carry a weapon that shoots 15, 20, 30, or 100 bullets if I want. I am willing to take a class, pass a test and carry a card to prove that I know what I am doing.
I would be willing to register my gun so it can be tracked if it is ever stolen and used in a crime. I have taken classes to know my rights and responsibilities as a gun owner. I have undergone background checks to prove I am not a felon before I purchased any and every gun I own.
My rights to own and use a gun should not be infringed because there are a very few people who should not have access. Pass and enforce laws that restrict access to those who would do harm to good people.
