SEAHAWKS: Fans disrespectful at cemetery

As a resident of Washington since being moved to Fort Lewis in the early 1990s, I have been happy to call the South Sound home. I have hoped that my local teams would do well and cheered for their victories. But never would I have expected fans from what I now call my home state to be disrespectful.

I am visiting the East Coast and on Saturday brought my family to the most solemn of places, Arlington National Cemetery. There I witnessed something that made me ashamed. While others held silence respectfully, four individuals chanted, “Seahawks! Seahawks! Seahawks!”

When I questioned them, they told me that they had arrived that morning and were going to the game on Sunday. I asked them to please keep it down while on hallowed grounds. The responce I received was, ” Oh, you must be a Redskins fan.”

I hope that these few people are the minority. I hope this group of people is not who I return to next week.
