ECONOMY: Obama doesn’t want to reduce the deficit

How about that. The News Tribune editorial board, Katie Baird and even Eugene Robinson found religion. All of them are telling us the fiscal cliff agreement which will bring in $100 billion per year won’t do much to cut the deficit. Sound familiar?

The Republicans have been saying that for years President Obama’s tax plan, taxing only the top 2 to 3 percent, would bring in only $70 billion to $80 billion per year. That amount, like the $100 billion per year from the fiscal cliff deal, wouldn’t have cut much of the deficit either. The mainstream media never questioned Obama’s plan. The were too preoccupied with Mitt Romney’s plan.

The truth is the president doesn’t want to reduce the deficit. To date he has not proposed in writing a single bill that would significantly cut spending and reform entitlements. Why?

The president wants a large central government with huge social welfare programs, but he doesn’t have enough revenue (taxes) to pay for it. He needs the middle class to pay for it, not just the wealthy.

What? You believed the president when he said that “middle-class taxes will not go up a single dime under my presidency”?

Some of the Obamacare taxes affecting the middle class started Jan. 1. Fully implemented, Obamacare has 21 new taxes; 12 will affect families earning less than $250,000.

Now that the president has been re-elected, we may hear more of the truth about his tax-and-spending plans from the mainstream media. Don’t hold your breath.
