TV: KOMO rate increases are out of control

As a longtime Click cable customer, I place a high value on its local service and presence. I am very disappointed that KOMO-TV (Fisher Broadcasting) is raising the rates it charges Click for a second consecutive year. Increases of 97 percent (2011 to 2012) and 60 percent (2012 to 2013) are unacceptable, particularly in these tough economic times.

I don’t blame Click for not agreeing to a new KOMO contract for 2013. Any increases in broadcast rates are eventually passed on to retail ratepayers. KOMO should include a disclosure of its past and proposed rates in its advertisements warning the public that Click may not have KOMO in its lineup for 2013, but perhaps KOMO is concerned about negative feedback once the public discovers its out-of-control increases.

KOMO can be assured that this Click customer will do without KOMO and will stay loyal to Click. I will do my best to spread the word about their greedy rate increases.

KOMO should be ashamed of the rates it is proposing.
