GUNS: Look to our American heritage

The NRA has asked for armed guards in our schools. A more economical solution is to arm the school personal.

Today’s America has regressed to the old West where people carried weapons because of an inept government. The new age people have nearly destroyed American heritage. Religion is constantly under attack. Sacredness of marriage is ignored as children are commonly with an uncaring single parent.

Family is not the major cohesive structure as in the past. The drug culture is tolerated or even praised, leading to the degeneration of the American work ethic, or even contempt of past hard-working Americans. The pledge of allegiance to our flag or a prayer is considered in poor taste. Christmas is censured.

Our president tells the world Americans are arrogant, selfish, etc. There is a dearth of role models for the children or, worse, negative role models. Aspirations projected by modern society for young people are vague or chimerical leading to frustration and hopelessness.

The old West was tamed and Americans had a conduct code, strong families, pride in themselves and country and religion. Almost all families were a close-knit economic group. Youngsters had access to guns, dynamite, Molotov cocktails, etc. Nevertheless, the young people’s family code prevented senseless killing.

To stop criminal assault of schools and people, the new age people should look to our American past.
