GUNS: NRA plan a symptom of mental illness

Mental illness is once again in the news as a suggested cause of the violence that again has shocked the nation. But isn’t the NRA’s suggestion – that the solution to mass shootings is for everyone including school staff to arm themselves to the teeth – evidence of a truly frightening, blatantly violent mental illness?

Behind their seeming “madness” is of course their real organizational mission: to increase gun sales for their corporate sponsors and to further the opinion that gun-powered insurrection against our own federal government will be imminently required.

Americans seem unaware that most of the world’s population consider us to be neurotically deviant in our love for guns amidst the carnage of our gun violence statistics. Most of the world would consider a country awash in guns and gun violence to be a “failed state” and the citizens who celebrate that situation to be “mentally ill.”
