GUNS: Proposals should address type of ammunition, too

While we are advocating changes to gun laws that will ban civilian purchase of semi-automatic weapons and large-capacity ammunition clips, we should also think about what goes into those clips.

All of the children and adults murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School were shot with especially deadly bullets that flatten and fragment upon impact, inflicting massive damage to tissue and bone.

Why would recreational shooters and hunters need such bullets? If I were hunting deer, I would want to inflict a clean wound, not to mangle the body and then have to pick bullet fragments out of my venison steak.

There are three elements to a working weapon: the gun itself, the ammunition clip and the bullet(s) it shoots. Please consider all three in any gun-control legislation.
