SHOOTING: Bad people will always get guns

Watching Saturday’s news coverage of the shootings in Connecticut made me absolutely furious. I do not own guns, have never shot a gun, and do not intend to. Therefore I do not care how rigid gun laws become.

The sheer number of people talking about stricter gun laws in relation to preventing future tragic events is beyond my comprehension. These people need a reality check. Bad people will always find a way to get a gun if they want one. Gun control laws will never prevent these incidents from happening.

If they so badly want to ban something, let’s take a look at the violent assault/combat/shooting video games. I’d bet the shooter had “Mortal Combat” in his gaming system and not “Donkey Kong.”

It’s time to secure school campuses. We can no longer walk freely around an airport, must pass through a metal detector to enter a courthouse and for a time, right after 9/11, couldn’t walk into a sports arena or music venue without security checking our bags.

We need to get real about what the problems in society are, and the answer is not as easy as guns.
