CHRISTMAS: Grinches ruin holiday spirit

Nine years ago I moved to Tacoma. Every year I have put up decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. My neighbors and passersby have always enjoyed the displays.

Every year I have had something stolen from the display, and every year I replace it and add more. But last night was the last straw. Someone came up into my yard and stole a 12-foot-long inflatable truck with two penguins on it. Its loss left a large void in my display.

I wish that the thieves could have waited until after Christmas instead of ruining my display and destroying my Christmas spirit.

To the people who don’t steal, I wish you a merry Christmas. To the thieves, I have a few words but they cannot be printed in the newspaper. They not only spoiled this Christmas for me and my neighbors but future Christmases will be less bright as well, as there will be no more displays at my home for them to steal.

Bah, humbug.
