The idea that tax cuts for the rich creates jobs has yet to be proven. There isn’t one statistic backing up this claim, and yet it’s the only song the conservatives sing. It’s quite to the contrary.
A recent study conducted by Owen Zidar found that economic growth in states with the biggest number of high-income earners was too insignificant to support the theory that they grew the economy following a tax cut affecting them.
So, if most jobs grow from small businesses and most small business owners are middle-income earners, then wouldn’t cutting taxes for the middle millions losing their shirts, rather than the richest few, be a step toward solution and not a step back? The conservatives should listen to their own “personal responsibility” rhetoric and step up. Unfortunately, all we hear is how the food-stamp family is stealing hammock dreams from America’s hardest worker. Hardly.
Let’s stop the bull. If this upcoming crisis is the price we must pay to finally bring fairness into view, then let the chips fall – off the cliff.
