SECESSION: It’s best for everyone

Is secession really that bad? In James Rosen’s “New cry from some Obama foes: It’s time to secede,” Sanford Levinson states that secession is not a laughing matter. As a high school student who’s studied the Civil War a bit I would tend to agree. We should take their suggestions with more seriousness. What would happen if the states that turned red on election night successfully seceded? How would the national debt be settled? What would happen to the government? Could this secession happen peacefully?

I’ve heard the argument that secession would be bad for everyone, North, South, Republicans and Democrats. I tend to disagree here, considering that both new governments would get much more done without the political gridlock. We in the blue states would keep 92 percent of the nation’s young entrepreneurs, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook Inc., Starbucks and Hollywood. You guys get Dell, Enron and Six Flags over Texas!

We know how passionate you guys in the “red states” are about the “illegals” and their immigration. You’d get 83 percent of the border, so you can do anything you want there.

As for the nation’s debt, we’ll handle that since we can deal with that on our own now that we get to keep 100 percent of our tax revenue, so you get the rewarding task of paying for your own roads!

Think about it, it’s what’s best for everyone.
