GOP: Pledge won’t lower deficit

How did one individual – an unelected, unappointed lobbyist - convince all those Republicans to sign pledges saying they would never raise taxes? I always thought our elected officials were supposed to work for the people that elected them, not lobbyists. Those Republicans that signed those pledges need to rip them up, and kick Grover Norquist to the curb and tell him to get lost.

The only way to have any chance of lowering our huge deficit is to raise taxes, cut spending and fix Medicare and Social Security so they don’t go broke in the future. That means the Democrats need to get off their high horses also, and both parties need to understand that the word ‘compromise’ is still a word in the dictionary.
