WAR: No euphemism is called for

Re: “Indirect fire kills soldier in Afghanistan” (TNT, 11-14).

Does the use of the euphemism “indirect fire” make the soldier less dead? Why not report the truth? The soldier was killed in action in hostile territory, fighting a war that was not of his making.
