Here is a quick demographic look at Barack Obama’s route to victory in 2012. He won:
55 percent of women
67 percent of unmarried women
93 percent of blacks
71 percent of Hispanics
73 percent of Asians
60 percent ages 18-29
55 percent ages 30-39
63 percent under $30,000
60 percent under $50,000
54 percent under $100,000
55 percent with postgraduate degrees
55 percent who attend church at least monthly
50 percent of Catholics
And a few suggestions to my conservative friends on how they might address their diminishing demographic realities. Some may be a bit presumptuous, but give it some thought.
Given that nowadays in the good ole USofA, white, non-Hispanic births are no longer the annual majority, 50,000 Hispanics turn 18 monthly, women are the majority and fewer people attend church regularly:
Stop attempting to define “legitimate” forms of rape.
Stop passing “personhood” bills and “vaginal probe” legislation.
Stop calling women using birth control “sluts” and “prostitutes.”
Stop voting against fair pay legislation.
Stop opposing universal health care.
Stop referring to human beings as “illegals.”
Stop talking about “self-deportation.”
Stop opposition to the DREAM Act.
Stop suppressing, intimidating, challenging and purging voters.
Stop birth certificate talk.
Stop saying “food stamp president.”
Stop the “makers and takers,” 47 percent, Ayn Rand philosophy.
Stop climate denial.
Stop cutting Pell grants.
Stop proposing higher Stafford loan rates.
Stop opposing equal rights for the LGBTQ community.
Stop fear-mongering about Iran, China, Russia, sharia law, Saul Alinsky, New Black Panthers, imaginary gun laws, in-person voter fraud, unions, Medicare, and wars on freedom, marriage, religion and Christmas.
Stop blaming voters for how they vote.
