BUSES: Prop. 1 rejection shows Pierce County’s ugly side

With the apparent defeat of Pierce Transit Proposition 1, we have now witnessed the true bad side of the majority of Pierce County voters.

Yes, we have heard all the arguments against Pierce Transit and its riders. The bottom line: It was a vote against human decency.

We were put on this Earth to help each other. The unfortunate in life are trying their best in a bad economy, and they especially need our help. Before, during and now, we see the worst part of humanity: a Boeing worker calling Pierce Transit “criminals”; car dealerships ensuring the rejection of the proposition only to secure their bottom dollar; and a Pierce County Council member going house-to-house asking for “no” votes.

The 95,000-plus supporters of Prop. 1 during this holiday season should make their huge purchases, especially autos, outside of Pierce County. Ensure that they only profit half as much as they did last year. Major companies are leaving Pierce County in droves; let’s ensure the auto dealerships are next!
