BUSES: Rejecting Prop. 1 sends the wrong message

To those who have rejected Pierce Transit Proposition 1: Your call to stop “wasting” tax funds has been heard. I wonder though, at what cost?

I couldn’t agree more that Pierce Transit has not done enough to win our trust, but the vote against Proposition 1 sends that message to the wrong people. Strangely, opponents have told the elderly, the disabled and those who otherwise cannot rely on the luxury of their own vehicle that they are “wasting” precious tax dollars.

Better transit is the key to a stronger economy and a stronger community. I’m very disappointed that so many have decided they’d rather keep theirs at the expense of others.
