It seems to me that our recent presidential election has taught us that running a well-planned and strategic ad campaign that attacks the integrity of a candidate (called character assassination) with exaggerated, fabricated, and half truth claims is a sure recipe for winning. Running on issues that face our country then becomes secondary.
Is this path the high road, or the low road? Does it elevate our election process a notch, or lower it a notch? Is success at any cost worth the results? Will such success lead to such tactics becoming more the norm in our political bickering? Do real issues really matter any more?
