The request for food assistance has grown more than 52 percent in Pierce County in the last four years. To meet that need it is crucial that the Emergency Food Network partner with organizations such as Northwest Harvest. EFN will distribute more than 15 million pounds of food to 67 food banks, meal sites and shelters this year in Pierce County.
A News Tribune article noted that the LeMay – America’s Car Museum and Northwest Harvest are having a food drive. If you bring two items you will receive a discount. Thank you, but the article incorrectly stated that Northwest Harvest is the only nonprofit food bank distributor in Washington state. The Emergency Food Network is still here and working hard do fulfill our mission that “no one in Pierce County will go hungry.”
When visiting the museum, we suggest you consider peanut butter, canned tuna, baby formula or stew for your donation. We also ask you to watch for additional donation sites at the end of November to honor the third annual Fallen Officers Food Drive.
All of us working together is the only way we will continue to meet the need.
