ELECTION: Mitt Romney is uniquely qualified

We are fortunate this year to have a very unique individual running for president.

Mitt Romney attended Harvard University, obtaining his law degree and an advanced business degree simultaneously, graduating cum laude in law and in the top 5 percent in his MBA class. He created a private equity firm, Bain Capital, that either helped save or get new businesses started that later became household names, like Staples, Brookstone, Burger King, Dominoes Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Sealy, Sports Authority, Toys R Us and many, many more.

He was called upon to save the 2002 Winter Olympics, which had been plagued by graft and serious budgetary overruns. He turned the Olympic Games around and ended with a surplus even after increasing security due to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

As governor of Massachusetts, he inherited a budget that was severely out of balance. Four years later left he with a surplus and a substantial rainy day fund, after balancing the state budget every year working with a Democratic-controlled legislature.

Romney is a very unique person with the abilities we need now more than ever. If improving the economy and saving Medicare and Social Security while reducing the federal deficit is important to everyone, Romney is the obvious choice. I voted for Bill Clinton, Al Gore and even John Kerry, but when given the opportunity to support someone with Romney’s qualifications I cannot vote any other way.
