ELECTION: Connelly will be more independent

I am so impressed with the commitment demonstrated by Jack and Angela Connelly in the race for the state Senate. They have been committed to the 27th District for years. They live, raise their family and work in this district. They have been incredibly generous with their time, treasure and talent.

I have heard that Connelly wants to remain independent in the Senate and does not want to feel obligated to all of the PACs and special interests. There is no question but that he will have to spend more to defeat a career politician who has appeared on the ballot a number of times. This is not surprising.

I appreciate the time, commitment and dedication that his campaign has demonstrated. I also appreciate the fact that they are calling attention to the votes of our current representative. Too often in Tacoma those representatives feel that they have a lifetime appointment and vote without regard to the interests of their district or vote in a manner which is only consistent with the desires of the special interest groups that control them and their party.

Connelly is charting an independent course. He is stating his beliefs and not backing down from them. That is the type of person I want representing this district in the Legislature.
