ELECTION: Connelly ads making false claims

Dramatic campaign commercials by 27th District Senate candidate Jack Connelly that accuse his opponent, state Rep. Jeanne Darnielle, of slashing $4 billion from the state education budget are simply ridiculous – a political smear job, false on their face.

Connelly, an attorney skilled with the techniques of propaganda, previously produced extrapolating and exaggerating hit ads that seemed to suggest that Darnielle was responsible for the murder of a Tacoma schoolgirl and the tragic vehicle death of a Tacoma mother. His claims are false.

Darnielle was not an elected representative when those events occurred. Connelly skewed the facts to play on emotions, and 27th District voters can detect the accusations for what they are: baloney!

As a retired Tacoma teacher and lifelong advocate of public education, I can say with certainty that Darnielle has consistently used her legislative clout for the betterment of our schools, early education, K-12 and higher education. She is effective at preventing cuts in vital school programs and keeps funding the paramount duty of the state.

As a mom, Darneille has volunteered at Lowell, Mason and Stadium schools while Connelly sends all of his children to private parochial schools. His mean and dishonest attacks on Darnielle, combined with the hundreds of thousands of dollars he spent of his own money on his campaign, are extreme and lead discerning voters to wonder: Why he is running for office? What is his hidden agenda?
