ELECTION: Jack Connelly supports public saftey

Letter by Matt Carlisle, Tacoma on Sep. 21, 2012 at 3:15 pm |

It is fortunate that 27th District state Rep. Jeannie Darneille’s consistent votes against public safety are finally being brought to light. She has been voting against public safety for years without people knowing it. These include votes to prevent or limit monitoring of sex offenders, votes which limit offender confinement, and votes which limit corrections officers in doing their jobs to enforce the terms of probation and parole supervision.

Public safety is important. It is particularly important that we properly monitor and supervise violent offenders and sex offenders. Taxpayers spend a lot of money for systems to supervise offenders and then sit back and watch as those charged with supervision are limited in their ability to perform their jobs.

I’m voting for Jack Connelly. He has a strong record of supporting public safety. He also knows and supports small businesses and understands the importance of creating jobs. Instead of focusing on the economy or jobs, Darneille has been working on felons getting the right to vote. It is time to get some effective representation in Olympia.
