Because this is how any organization based on the democratic principle works. The trade-off for having the goals of the organization not aligned with a member’s goal is that, when they are aligned (in most cases), the individual’s power to achieve that goal is multiplied. So, it is beneficial overall.

And as many times you spin “tax paid” or “tax funded”, that does not change the fact that it is my money after it is paid to me, and I can do whatever I want with it. Otherwise, it’s socialism/communism/redistribution/theft/whatever.

The conflict of interest is no different from the one of any entity with vested interest (e.g. organazation of regulated businesses). This is how democratically elected government works, and the process is protected in the Constitution as freedom of assembly, speech and the right to petition the government.

Even if 80% of the dues paying members wanted to support, a Democrat why should the rest of the members be forced to contribute to help elect someone they don’t favor?
