  1. I thought about it and came to the conclusion that only a fool would contend that the auto industry would have folded if not for Obama.

  2. menopaws says:

There are those who also forget that there was a VERY strong chance their bank was going to fold and, just like the Depression, they would lose everything………The Fed insurance could not possible have covered every deposit…………
I always wonder about those with “selective” memory….Our broker reminded me that the market actually went down over 57%………….Now, we are ahead of where we were before the BUSH recession. Slow and steady usually does win the race…….

  3. wyecoyote says:

First off that may or may not be true. GM and Chrysler could have entered bankruptcy court and come out just fine or been dissolved. Which way they would or wouldn’t have gone is not known at this time. However, this will happen again in the future now much like the bank bailouts will happen again. Instead of letting them fail we prop them up and it happens again. The to big to fail now that is crony capitalism. And someone can correct me if I’m wrong bu the bailouts were done under bush then continued under Obama. So now all the democrats like bush?

  4. oldoc, those you call fools” include the majority of economists, the majority of bank presidents and the majority of the American people.

In fact, as this article puts it:

“No one can know what would have happened absent the bailout. But it’s a distinctly minority view that the private sector, raked then by the financial crisis, would have nursed Detroit back to health without a massive infusion of federal aid. In late 2008, banks weren’t making many loans, much less to companies that were out of cash.”

    http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2012/02/fact-check-on-gop-candidate-and-obama-auto-bailout-claims/1

  5. Frankenchrist says:

Bush/Cheney let Usama bin Laden run free for eight years without even taking a shot at him.

Obama sent in the SEALs who capped him right in the face.

    Game over.

  6. old_benjamin says:

Ford Motors didn’t need or take a bailout. That’s why I bought a Fusion.

  7. oldman4 says:

Hey Van I like my Ford, that’s spelled Good management no bailout. But if bailouts are good business where’s mine I’ve been in line for years

  8. clabberass says:

Chrysler was not then or now a American auto company it was sold by Mercedes to Fiat, so it manufactures cars in the USA much like Toyota, and Honda. The fact that they were bailed out before and could not be saved by Mercedes, makes me wonder if the bailout money was so wisely spent?

  9. lovethemountains says:

Frankenchrist….”Bush/Cheney let Usama bin Laden run free for eight years without even taking a shot at him.” Now there’s a rediculous statement I will always remember.

And so, the Bush/Cheney conspiracy was employed to accomplish what?

Do you really believe that the military, for those eight years or part thereof, were aware of bin Laden’s whereabouts but Bush/Cheney prohibited them from going after him? Do you even comprehend what a massive conspiracy that would have required?

  10. Bush bailed out their financial arms and fixed the credit crisis. BHO gave the unions a huge kickback. His secondary bailout did nothing but screw bond holders in favor of unions.

And what does the bailout have to do with “white guys”?

Meno, did you write this tweet?

  11. Oh! does anyone even buy a Dodge o GMC product anymore? I prefer a good, solid reliable car. That’s why I always buy a Suburu. The last GMC product I bought was a ’78 Pontiac Phoenix, a piece of junk. I rented a new Dodge recently and it was also a piece of junk compared to my Suburu. So as far as I’m concerned they should have gone belly-up.

  12. CT8, I get the feeling that it’s open season on white guys. I wish they would at least have the guts to come right out and say it. People like menopaws will hide behind her keyboard and insult white people but doesn’t have the backbone to admit that she’s a racist.

  13. Frosty, you must have missed her rant where she happily declared she was a racist.

So she hates men, white people, and conservatives. She likes only African American women, as long as they are not conservative, according to her bigotry. All that hate has to eat her alive

  14. ctdrules says:

    What a pathetic statement.

  15. surething says:

I can’t even believe this was printed. I guarantee if the headline said “black guys”, there would have been one hell of an uproar.

  16. sumyungboi says:

    Wow, what a stupid letter.

    I can’t buy a Hudson or a Studebaker, either, what’s your point?

When companies have a bad business plan or an inferior product, they fade and give their part of the niche to someone who has a better business plan and a better product. Well, this is how it’s supposed to work, anyway.

Do you honestly think that if GM and Dodge had gone under, their billions in material assets would’ve rusted in an abandoned factory? Wake up, homes, someone else would be building cars with the same equipment, and probably without union labor, and that’s what this is all about, isn’t it?

And sorry to see that you’re so jealous of white people. Just try hard in life, son, there’s nothing that says that you can’t be as good as we are.

  17. Frankenchrist says:

Incidently, the only color mentioned in the letter is blue so all you teabaggers can stop hyperventilating about race.

  18. CT8, What did I tell you. I politely showed you that you were in error about the auto loans and restructuring by Obama that allowed them to succeed. But you continue your unsupported comments even when shown the facts.

And that lie about giving a “kickback” to the unions is pathetic. When are you going to start using facts and truth on your side. People might have voted for Romney and Ryan if they had used real facts instead of garbage like they do (and that you repeat even when proved wrong).

  19. You showed that Bush gave $18bil to GM. UAW was given a chunk of the new company so they would not strike.

Lets not forget they were paid in 2010 for the lost wages in 2008-2009. In the end it cost the unions nothing and they own 10% of the new, tax free company.

  20. menopaws says:

Okay, Viagra boys—does it make you feel manly to be verbally abusive????Frosty–It is a Subaru….My husband and I both own one and it is manufactured in Indiana……so, not only is your spelling bad, you don’t know that your car is built in America……….
The rest of you with the slams and the slurs–go for it…..The DNC had higher ratings than the Republicans convention……President Obama got a SEVEN point bounce according to Gallup this afternoon……….Your buddy Lyle got a letter printed online…….President Clinton passed EVERY fact check on his numbers, in his speech…..and called Ryan a liar, too…….And, Clinton’s speech beat the NFL game in ratings……..
I am having a very good day………Those of us who loved the diversity of the DNC as opposed to all those old, pasty white faces in Tampa, are smiling tonight……..
America builds beautiful cars—even in Indiana, Frosty….and lots of people have jobs. Our President believed in them–too bad you don’t……those of us who bought stock in the auto companies are also smiling!! Biden was right—Never bet against the American worker!

  21. sumyungboi says:

frankendb, it’s in the title. The title is written by the letter writer. If the ed staff changes anything, they notify you and get your okay first. But it is funny that you stepped out like a chump.

  22. sandblower says:

It should have read “white guys with red necks” to be generally more accurate.

  23. lylelaws says:

    Rozay

Why is your rant just a “Message to White Guys?”

Don’t you think members of the minority community are smart enough to think for themselves? I do.

  24. sumyungboi says:

Sandblower’s right, the left needs to direct its racial rants toward the correct sub-group of white people.

  25. LeePHilI says:

    “CT8 says:
Sep. 7, 2012 at 2:57 pm Frosty, you must have missed her rant where she happily declared she was a racist.”

As with quotes by the President, CT has now misrepresented menopaws’ quote.

    Consistancy counts, I guess.

  26. LeePHilI says:

“Biden was right—Never bet against the American worker!”

I liked the former Michigan gov who declared….

“Romney’s car got the elevator, auto workers got the shaft”

  27. took14theteam says:

“you must have missed her rant where she happily declared she was a racist.”

As with quotes by the President, CT has now misrepresented menopaws’ quote.

Nope…..saw that on another Letter where SHE clearly stated that SHE was a RACIST.

I wonder if menopaws lives in OLYMPIA………………

  28. taxedenoughintacoma says:

I would rather walk than buy a piece of crap built by obama motors.

I will alway buy a good car built bt Japs or Germans.

Watch the show “Ultimate Factories” and see how cars are built in off shore plants and how they shuck and jive at the UAW plants.

The auto industry is just another business being destroyed by unions. Europe learned to end run unions with robots. I will but American when they start using robots not drunk and high UAW workers.

  29. averageJose says:

LMAo… the ol’ “hate” blue-collar guys who hate Obama canard…

FYI. I bought a Nissan for my wife and an older than the Obama takeover Chevy P.U. for me.

    Thanks anyway.

  30. alindasue says:

sumyungboi said, “frankendb, it’s in the title. The title is written by the letter writer. If the ed staff changes anything, they notify you and get your okay first. But it is funny that you stepped out like a chump.”

I can tell you from experience that they do not contact the letter writer at all before changing the writer’s “suggested” title. I put the word “suggested” into quotations because that is the word used on the LTE form.

I find it interesting that so many of you who are saying that President Obama is not doing enough for the American economy are so quick to proudly proclaim their foreign cars and how American cars are junk…

We own three cars: a Dodge, a Ford, and a Chevy. They are all decent dependable cars. Toyota, who despite being a foreign company makes a lot of cars in the USA, also produces good dependable cars.

So to roughly paraphrase a famous quote by President Kennedy… Ask not what the president is doing to support the economy; ask what YOU are doing to support the economy.

  31. Hill, ask her……..

  32. sumyungboi says:

Alindasue, since the TNT has gone to this format where the letter writer fills in the “suggested” title, I’ve had several letters printed, and not one of the titles had been altered by the eds. In the old days, the eds took quite a bit of liberty in editing the actual letter, but again, since they’ve gone to this format, not one of my letters had been edited from its original form, _except_, one time, while well within the 250 word limit, I received an email stating that a paragraph in my letter was deemed unnecessary by the editor, who asked me to remove the paragraph and re-submit the letter. I didn’t, and the letter wasn’t printed.

Also, you can’t convince me that the eds re-wrote the title of this letter to make it only appear that Van Rozay is a racist.

Regarding the rest of your comment, my refusal to buy GM or Dodge products stems from my disdain for the cronyism between the federal government and the UAW at the expense of stock and bond holders. The federal government essentially gave to the union billions of other peoples’ money. I won’t be shamed into literally volunteering my money into the re-election fund of democrat politicians. No thanks.

  33. alindasue says:

sumyungboi said, “Regarding the rest of your comment, my refusal to buy GM or Dodge products stems from my disdain for the cronyism between the federal government and the UAW at the expense of stock and bond holders.”

First off, where would the stock and bond holders be if GM or Dodge went bankrupt? You can’t tell me that the bailouts didn’t end up helping them too.

You sound just like that senator who stated at the beginning of his term that the most important thing he could do this term was to make President Obama a one term president. Like him, you are putting petty partisan politics ahead of any actions that might help this country or the economy.

I couldn’t care less about what union rep or businessman supports what politician. I care that thousands of jobs paying livable wages were saved by the intervention loan.

  34. MyBandito says:

Do those on the Right hate America and Americans so much that they proudly find comfort in turning their backs on anything made in America by Americans? It looks that way. They hate us and they hate America.

  35. menopaws says:

Naw, Bandito–they just want to puke when they look in the mirror…….And, take it out on the rest of the world…….

  36. LeePHilI says:

“I care that thousands of jobs paying livable wages were saved by the intervention loan._ – alindasue

I’m always amazed, alindasue, at how the “free market” proponents can’t grasp the simplicity of “no market” if there are not livable wages available for families to make purchases. They seem to think that our economy would continue to exist providing goods and services to the wealthy only, who will purchase more than what they consume, just because they like your politics.

  37. hansgruber says:

Did you realize that GM took $100 Billion is Governement bailout and now is worth $34 Billion? What I hate is the taxpayers lost $66 Billion on this deal.

Chrysler is now owned by Fiat (Based in Italy…who outsourced this company?)

Haven’t owned a GM product since 2003 or a Chrysler product since 1992.

  38. LeePHilI says:

I’m guessing that most of these “free marketers” were not around when the theme in the Puget Sound was “will the last person to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?”

It was a demonstration of the market power of Boeing and the ripple effect to all the subcontractors and businesses that lived off the revenue produced by all those union jobs.

Luckily, Boeing learned that they could survive the market without a supersonic transport and diverted their manufacturing and spawned new lines that put those union wages back into the market.

Then came “Microsoft”….but that is another story for another time…

  39. LeePHill wrote: “CT8 says:

Menopaws wrote: “Damn straight I am a racist……Watching Republicans attempt to strip the right to vote from poor minorities that I marched for back in the 1960′s during the civil rights movement turned me into a real downright clear RACIST. I loathe overweight, older WHITE Republicans who are working very hard to keep people of color from being able to vote in red states……I keep hearing about Obama the “socialist, communist, ” etc….Let’s talk about the Republican Nazi’s who only want WHITE voters at their polls….You betcha,, to quote that Republican moron on Fox—I support minorities in their march to the voting polls………..And, I hope each and every one who wants to vote gets the opportunity….Voter fraud????That is the fraud of denying the right to vote to citizens….Every time a real citizen is turned away from the polls, democracy loses……So call me that name–in this case, I accept it with real pride…………”
    ___________________________________________________

So does accuracy, LeeP. Of that, you can be sure.

  40. You mean the white guys who are paying the taxes to subsidize every GM car and the overpaid, over-pensioned and over-insured deadbeats who work for GM and Chryslers in swing states ?

  41. Once again, it is my fervent hope that some day menopaws, you will seek help regarding your deep and abiding hatred of white men.

Many, including I, rallied for civil rights in the sixties, but we didn’t all become blind bigots in the process. Your blanket hatred for white men is easily as offensive as anyone’s blanket disdain for people of color. You are as bad as the people you claim to despise.

  42. harleyrider1 says:

The GM bailout paid kept the Union workers pension fund intact. There was no monies made available to salaried employee pensions. Google Delphi, the world’s largest auto supplier if you doubt that statement.

GM later did go through bankruptcy court, but only after the federal government -you and me – secured the union workers health, welfare, and benefits.

This was a debt the Obama administration paid for union support.

Ford Motor Company refused Obama money (our money). I bought my first Ford this year.

  43. klthompson says:

I thought about it right to the point of buying two Fords. I won’t buy products from failing companies. General Motors and Chrysler would have been replaced by better firms with better products.

  44. MyBandito says:

If the Right has their way, American labor will be replaced by cheaper slave labor from another country. So much for patriotism.

  45. CT8 – Bush is also the one that stopped enforcement of the rules and regulations that were meant to prevent the collapses of Wall Street and the Banks and ‘bailed them out’ to the extent that he covered their loses following the fine conservative rule of privatize profit socialize risks and loses.

Frosty and CT8 – Menopaws is as much a racist as you two are White Supremacists.

  46. sumyungboi says:

bandito: “Do those on the Right hate America .. turning their backs on anything made in America ..? They hate us and they hate America”

Really a dumb comment. Have you ever heard of the company store? Anything made for public consumption in the Soviet Union? I refuse to donate to a progressive superpac by buying GM or Dodge.

  47. sumyungboi says:

menopaws: “Naw, Bandito–they just want to puke when they look in the mirror…….And, take it out on the rest of the world…….”

Hysteria on the left is always a good sign.

  48. sumyungboi says:

alindasue: “First off, where would the stock and bond holders be if GM or Dodge went bankrupt?”

Their investments would have been worth more, and would have paid more. Do you even know what bankruptcy is?

  49. sumyungboi says:

lee: “I’m guessing that most of these “free marketers” were not around when the theme in the Puget Sound was “will the last person to leave Seattle please turn out the lights?””

Yeah, that was when the federal government decided to become partner in a Boeing SST. Big time failure.

  50. Harry_Anslinger says:

Lots of finger pointing and bloviating; not much concern for facts as usual. Lost in all the white/black racism accusations is taxedenoughs desire to buy a car built by ‘Japs’. “2012 to taxed- 1942 called and wants their totally offensive derogatory term for Japanese people back”. Seriously, did you not get the memo that like the term negro, jap is not acceptable in reference to race?

  51. Plz vote yes for transit! Drivers voted for a 3 year pay freeze and pay more in medical cost!

  52. sumyungboi says:

Harry, that’s one of those terms that racists on the left care about, but no one else does. I was homeported in Yokosuka for several years, and trust me, no one over there cares if people cal them japs. It’s simply short for japanese. You need to think for yourself, rather than have other people tell you what you need to be outraged about.

  53. MyBandito says:

sumyungboi- Most of tyour comments are really dumb but I agree that this one is especially dumb, “I refuse to donate to a progressive superpac by buying GM or Dodge.”

You refuse to participate in the American economy. You’re anti-American.

  54. sumyungboi says:

Nice try, bandito. Go graduate from progdb 1.01 and try again.

You see, you actually have to outwit your opponent before passers by might buy into your point of view. :)

  55. menopaws says:

oldoc–I stand behind that statement with real pride……I marched and demonstrated for people to have the right to vote. I believed it was a HUGE part of what this country was about then…and today I still believe it even more… Use the quote—THANK YOU. I took a stand, I got arrested and I will do it again…….any day, any time. You have a choice in this life–you either stand for something and believe in it…….or you sit and watch. I didn’t, I won’t and I will NEVER apologize or back down in my belief or equality being a part of America. Call me a reverse racist—those who are afraid want to take away the vote from those who fought for it………Not much to brag about there…….

  56. It is 2012, not 1962. BHO was elected by a whole lot of white people. Everyone wanted him to do well.

    Stop playing the martyr.

He has failed. Prove you are not a racist and vote for a better America, not skin color.

  57. SwordofPerseus says:

sumdumboy – you truly are a racist effing pig. To say that jap is just short for Japanese is like saying ni&&er is short for African American. My ex is Japanese and I know it is utterly an offensive epithet.

Good advice conc, prove you are not a racist vote for Obama and not skin color, and give peace a chance. Don’t vote for the white guy who thinks people like you are wonderful Americans until he gets you vote and then you’re chumps.

  58. More talk about color. It is obvious the left feels the only way Obama can win is to play on fear and racism.

Why not run on his record? Do you think America will forget about his failures if you scream ‘white guy’ loud enough? No, of course not.

  59. took14theteam says:

“like saying ni&&er is short for African American”

The Black community uses it daily, as well as the Rapper’s they call “Hero’s” .

So why is it “offensive” to whitey, but not to blacky??

  60. took14theteam says:

    Oh, I forgot,

    WHITE GUILT

    Get over it.

  61. sumyungboi says:

Sword, maybe that’s one of the reasons she’s your “ex”. :)

But hey, I’ve only lived in Japan, what the hell would I know?

  62. sandblower says:

CT8, “forget about his failures,” is a losing proposition because that phrase is only in the minds of you on the extreme right.

  63. sandblower says:

And CT8, romney will not lead us to a better America. I can guarantee that it will be worse for everyone except for those on the extreme right and it might even get to them.

  64. MyBandito says:

Amazing how those on the Right want nothing more than to do damage to this country’s economy. If you don’t like it here go someplace else. Don’t ruin this great country out of your hatred for the people in it.

  65. Want to damage the economy? Take your tinfoil hat off.

How does one damage the economy? Centralized planning, funneling debt to campaign donors in cash flow negative businesses. Massive regulations in an economic slowdown. Energy production moratoriums.

SB, that phrase is very true to those who saw their income drop. Most Americas rich, middle, and poor. Percent of population working is at a 30 year low. Entitlements at an all time high.

    Nice try

  66. sumyungboi says:

ct, he’s been blowing that meme for two days now. He’s simply a drunk trying to get people to talk to him.

  67. Well, he is an embarrassment to drunks then.

It is a shame that, for the most part, the leftists here are so incredibly irrational and at times totally nuts.

  68. CT8 – 30 years ago your precious producers were producing in the USA and not in overseas third would sweatshops.

  69. menopaws says:

CRT*—–I notice Romney doesn’t run on HIS record, now does he?????employment numbers in Massachusetts weren’t very good–health care was good, but now it’s BAD………Obama does have a record to run on–Bin Laden, repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t tell” Obamacare, Wall Street Reform. bringing troops home from Iraq, Libya, You throw your crap out–ROMNEY has a record that he spends a lot of time running away gtom…..Real man of character there—new position every damn day………Better change your argument and by the way, quit calling all of us racists……..The trash in YOUR party, Orly Tate, is the birther who got all the monkeys out of the cage…….And, they are white…throw them some peanuts and shut up……..Those of us who know what racism is, recognize your party’s stroking of that vile base….Their “patriotism” also wants to keep elderly and the minorities away from the polls……..No ideas, so we will intimidate our way to power…..Real patriots, huh?

  70. beerBoy says:

Clearly the TNT wants controversy. There is nothing of substance to this letter. The headline was written – not by the letter writer – in a way most likely to inflame responses. Yellow journalism didn’t die with Hearst.

  71. MyBandito says:

The Right’s theory is to cut off their nose to spite their face. They don’t like the American worker, because the workers belong to unions and tend to support Democrats, so they purposely avoid buying American products. Thereby computerizing our economy out of spite.

    Tell me that I’m wrong.

  72. MyBandito says:

“Computerizing” was “compromising” before spell check got to it.

  73. blakeshouse says:

Funny how Ford to the Govt to KISS MY A$$ for the bail out money. I wouldn’t purchase a Govt Motors vehicle if you gave it to me, or a Chrysler for that matter. All that he achieved was handing them over to the union for payback for getting him elected and destroying the retirement of those who had believed in the blue chip stock they owned. Socialism working its way down

  74. MyBandito says:

Blakehouse- Jobs. Jobs. Jobs. Good paying jobs. The kind of jobs that made America the envy of the world. Jobs.

  75. The letter doesn’t say “white guys”, it says “blue-collar guys”. The TNT is race baiting.

  76. sumyungboi says:

    Is this your letter, beerboy?

  77. menopaws, I’m sorry to hear that you also drive a Subaru. That could be reason enough for me to change to another car. You seem to think that I don’t like any car made in America. Wrong again. As long as it doesn’t have Obama’s finger prints on it that’s fine. I recently sold a Ford truck I had for 25 years. I would buy a Ford again because they haven’t been slimed yet by Obama. BTW I can’t find that the UAW has any involvement with Subaru, that’s another reason to not buy a GMC or Chrysler product. I’d hate to think that I was in any way putting money in Trumpka’s pocket.

  78. I’m expecting a huge rise in suicides come November 8th when it’s been determined that Romney won the election. That will go along way towards sanitizing America.

  79. CT8, I’ve known many men in the military that were married to Japanese women. I do not know one that ever divorced a Japanese woman. They are not throw aways like many American women, (menopaws comes to mind). So if SOP has an ex-Japanese wife, it pretty much says it all about the type of person he is. Hopefully he can find a nice, shrill, big-mouth liberal American woman to make him happy.

  80. beerBoy says:

yungboi – nope. Perhaps the TNT lets you write your own headline – I thought that was the headline editor.

  81. averageJose says:

    “Clearly the TNT wants controversy”

a much anticipated ‘hello, welcome, you have seen a glimpse of light’…

  82. SwordofPerseus says:

Back to the letter writers point, the letter writer did not say the entire auto industry would fold oldoc, that would be ridiculous. The entire auto industry was not involve in the TARP bail-out. There was a definite danger that GM and MOPAR would go under if the government had not intervened. Try to pay attention to the actual subject of the letter.

Sumdumboy- I’m guessing you have no point except the one on top of your head. I can imagine what the local Japanese called YOU behind your back; “Sumdumboi wa futo te imasu atama”. BTW the ex is 1/2 Japanese & 1/2 American born in the USA. Her mother and cousins (Japanese, Nagao clan) did not like the word “Jap” either. You wear you ignorance like a badge. Ignorance is not a point of pride.

  83. LeePHilI says:

    “frosty says:
Sep. 9, 2012 at 11:47 am CT8, I’ve known many men in the military that were married to Japanese women. I do not know one that ever divorced a Japanese woman.”

Yeah….they usually die of abuse before the divorce.

You want to see divorced Asian women? Take a trip around South Tacoma for a healthy number of “war brides” that dumped their controlling abusive mates.

frosty apparently prefers the “mushroom” approach….

  84. “ignorance is not a point of pride” says Mr. SOP. This guy doesn’t mind coming onto a public forum and discussing his marital issues. Who cares? Talk about ignorance!

  85. LeePHill, I said “Japanese” women, not Asian women. You obviously think that all Asians are the same, just like all Europeans are the same. Wise up dude!

  86. LeePHilI says:

SOP isn’t “discussing his marital issues”…..

There is another manufactured lie to attempt to cover up the embarrassment of being made to look like a jackass

  87. LeePHill, so you’re one of the cretins who hang out on S. Tacoma Way preying on vulnerable women huh?

  88. LeePHilI says:

frosty….Japanese women are Asian and I’m now left to figure out how you can decipher “Japanese” from other Asian origins. I guess you take a poll of married Asian women to determine if they are Japanese and fit your mold of Japanese women.

  89. LeePHilI says:

    Hey frosty…

What do you call a woman of Japanese orgin who was born and raised in Hawaii?

How about a Korean woman who lives in Japan?

    This should be funny….

  90. LeePHilI says:

Kinda like a woman trolling online pretending to be a 70-something military veteran redneck??????

  91. LeePHill, if you think that

“Asian” fits all nationalities in that part of the world, just ask a Korean or Chinese if they consider themselves to be Japanese. Or you could go to Cambodia or Thailand or Vietnam and ask them if they believe they are Japanese or Korean. Make sure you have your running shoes on when you ask the question. As for your question about a Japanese woman born in Hawaii, I would call her an American. You see, the difference between you and I are simple, you see race, I see people.

  92. LeePHill, or like a draft dodging pinko who thinks he knows everything but is a sissy in men’s clothing. Get a life (or a job) and give your parents a break, it’s time to get out of their home and work for yourself.

  93. SwordofPerseus wrote: Back to the letter writers point, the letter writer did not say the entire auto industry would fold oldoc, that would be ridiculous. The entire auto industry was not involve in the TARP bail-out. There was a definite danger that GM and MOPAR would go under if the government had not intervened. Try to pay attention to the actual subject of the letter.

“You couldn’t buy a new Dodge Ram or GMC if Obama hadn’t saved the auto industry.” I believe that the term “auto industry” includes all of those entities involved in the manufacture of automobiles…..right?

  94. Continued…..Mr. Rozay may not have meant what he wrote Sword but he did write it. He is obviously a staunch Obama supporter albiet a very poorly informed one.

  95. SwordofPerseus says:

I’ll have to agree with you doc, however I think the letter writer is trying to point out that Obama has helped, even those who don’t understand the ramifications. Most posters here do not understand the mechanics of a consumer driven economy such as ours.

  96. MyBandito wrote: The Right’s theory is to cut off their nose to spite their face. They don’t like the American worker, because the workers belong to unions and tend to support Democrats, so they purposely avoid buying American products. Thereby computerizing our economy out of spite.

    Tell me that I’m wrong.

Judging from the number of Obama decals on the Hondas, Nissans, Saabs, Kias, etc that I see in the Walmart parking lot you may be wrong. Matter of perception I guess.

  97. Sword, I am sure you are right regarding Mr. Rozay’s intention in writing the LTE. I continue to think the US taxpayer and bondholders took a real hosing on the deal.

  98. Scottc51 says:

The GM bailout was really a UAW bailout. An actual bankruptcy would have restructured all of the collective bargaining agreements. Now GM is on taxpayer life support and it is another entity dependent upon the taxpayers.

  99. Consumer driven economy. True enough. Then you should support getting govt out of the way and putting more money back in the consumer’s pocket. Only way that can be done sustainably is to shrink govt.

Artificial demand pushed by Keysenians is temporary and wasteful. Beyond that since we do not manufacture here, we are just stimulating retail sector while the bulk of our money ends up in China.

  100. CT8

‘getting government out of the way’ is one of the things that busted the economy in the first place.

    ‘not manufacturing here’ is another.

Both brought to us by Republicans, who now want to bring both back in their new and expanded plan to destroy America.

  101. MyBandito says:

oldoc- Your response makes no sense. What you attempt to provide as some sort of evidence is a figment of your imagination and would have nothing to do with my comment even if it were credible.

Go back and re-read these here comments. They are living proof that the Right cares little about the damage they do to our economy when they purposely boycott American workers due to their union affiliation.

  102. X, look at why one would want to manufacture overseas. Asinine regulations, taxes, anti-business sentiment, EPA, unions. All hallmarks of the leftist.

Look at California, Detroit, and Chicago. All liberal dumps destroyed by progressivism and liberal values.

  103. MyBandito says:

Ah, yes. The progressives made them do it. As they cry all the way to the bank.

It was greed. Pure and simple. Right wing greed.

  104. “right wing greed” eh? I’ve seen at least two liberals boasting on these pages about how much money they are making in their investments. It’s curious that not one conservative has made that kind of comment. LOL

  105. averageJose says:

Speaking of bailouts… GM is losing up to $49,000 of our money on every Chevy Volt produced.

  106. Flanagan says:

Um…from what I read, GM is broke and will need another infusion to survive…here we go again taxpayers.
We need a president with a business background and not a community organizer.

Apparently you think that your opinion qualifies as fact and you asked anyone to tell you that you were wrong. Ever been to a Walmart? I supposed you are going to claim that union members do not shop there???
You are certainly not going to claim that union members buy only automobiles with a “union label”. Your rather consistent use of blanket statements to somehow prove your very weak point of view is illogical and sophomoric.
