ELECTION: Romney-Ryan would scrap safety net

Letter by Earl D. Erickson, Tacoma on Aug. 30, 2012 at 10:09 am with 90 Comments »
August 30, 2012 10:09 am

As if the negative political ads aren’t enough, now a county judge in Lubbock, Texas, predicts possible civil war if President Obama is re-elected.
His name is Tom Head, an extreme conservative of the GOP machine.

These remarks hit me rather odd, because that is exactly what I was thinking if Mitt Romney becomes president and Paul Ryan vice-president. The protesters would win a civil war because there are a lot more angry 99ers than the greedy 1 percent group of multimillionaires and billionaires.

The poor and middle class will not stand silent. That is because a Romney-Ryan ticket will spread no safety net to the poor because such programs as welfare, unemployment compensation, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and other public programs will be eventually scrapped and no alternative replaced.

Public education will be a thing of the past. The post office will be replaced with private companies. Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act will be abolished. Other wars will emerge and eventually destroy America and the rest of the world.

Is this what you want in a Romney-Ryan ticket? Is this a chance America will take? I sincerely hope not. Vote for real democracy. Vote democratic. Vote for President Barack Obama for a second term to move ahead for a progressive future. Save America.

  1. GHTaxPayer says:

More bold-faced lies from the left.

    1) Romney’s plan would save Medicare and cut the massive waste and fraud that we’re seeing under Obama.

Under Obama’s plan, Medicare is bankrupt by 2021 – 2022, the CBO reports. Obama has stolen $716 Billion from Medicare to start up Obamacare.

    2) Public education is at an all-time low under Obama. At the bidding of the teachers union, Obama has banned charter school participation which allows poor children to access better schools. Black Americans are getting screwed by Obama in our schools and by the 60% (that’s right) unemployment rate of young Black Americans under Obama.

It is OBAMA AND DEMS who are bankrupting our safety nets, destroying private sector jobs and lying to us every day about it.

  2. I don’t know what to say Earl but I will vote a straight Republican ticket just to cancel your vote, people such as yourself need to continue their medications…

  3. GHTaxPayer says:

And just this week ANOTHER 370,000 Americans filed new unemployment claims. That brings the total just this year to 11.1 Million Americans who have filed for NEW unemployment claims.

Obama and Dems are destroying our country faster than anyone thought possible.

  4. TNT can do better than this letter.

  5. SandHills says:

Well, either Romney has to clearly state he is running ON the GOP platform or he is running FROM it.

Fox followers may overlook the this “devil in the details” but one has to bet the Democrats won’t – or is this going to be another issue Republicans want to cordon as off-limits for discussion??

  6. slugoxyz says:

Well, I’m pretty sure that in order for Romney to win, he’ll need a few of those 99%ers to vote for him. But then again, the notion that the country is divided 99-1 is silly isn’t it? The best way to divide the country is to use the “Starpower” game/experiment. So the percentages are broken down more like 1% rich, 30% middle and the rest are lower or less than “middle”. But to think that the remaining percentage (Circles) will revolt is as silly as the city of Lubbock revolting.

I was just chastising a conservative for the fact that Ryan took some liberties with the truth last night at the RNC only to turn around and listen to what is clearly a Liberal doing the same thing (although in a much more fantastic way – thanks Earl). And that is why I can’t stand the left or the right. If you aren’t arguing from the middle…you are probably lying.

  7. “The protesters would win a civil war because there are a lot more angry 99ers than the greedy 1 percent group of multimillionaires and billionaires”.

Oh contrar Missuer Erickson, we 1%er’s have tons of guns, boatloads of ammo, and basements full of MREs’ because we “KNOW” both, the US Constitution and, Barry’s goal of having America dictated by the United Nations. Time to overcome your delusions Sir, and face the fact that “WE THE PEOPLE” have had enough of Hussein’s Rhetoric, Vacationing on Taxpayer’s Money and Blatant Lies and Cover-ups !

  8. tommy98466 says:

Earl… are you that stupid? Yes you are. What trash you spew. Pathetic.

  9. Frankenchrist says:

Doesn’t matter because Romney/Ryan are destined to lose.

Republicans want to refocus on Wisconsin as they see Ohio slip away. Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes don’t make up for Ohio’s 18, or Pennsylvania’s 20. Even if Republicons surrender both those states, winning Colorado, Wisconsin, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia—states Obama won in 2008—that wouldn’t be enough for Mitt Romney to get to 270.

Fact is, Republicans are losing. Just watch their convention and note the utter lack of energy. Nothing. On Tuesday night, Chris Christie had to order people to stand up.

Romney is a very weak candidate. He just does not come across as “presidential” enough.

  10. Frankenchrist says:

The American public have lost faith in the SCOTUS; under various Republicon juntas it’s been politicized in ways that would have been impossible 40 years ago.

But praise the Flying Spaghetti Monster! We won’t soon see another Antonin Scalia nor “Sleepy” Clarence Thomas. Obama will likely appoint two more justices in his second term.

  11. Frankenchrist says:

Anybody see that old hag Jan Brewer at the convention? She looks so like an unwrapped mummy, she just has to be from Egypt. Hey Jan, Boris Karloff called and he wants his face back.

She’s a good-natured drunk, though, like when she accidently endorsed Obama.

  12. You would not post such nonsense if you were so confident.

You are scared. Republicans will gain traction with women and minorities. White men are already leaning heavily right.

It is ok to show concern.

  13. GHTaxPayer says:

Romney will win EASILY over Obama. Romney will get at least 310 electoral college votes.

November just can’t come soon enough!

  14. averageJose says:

Well Earl, if Tom Head speaks for all of the gop then Fred Phelps speaks for all the democrat party.

  15. philichi says:

Why is it that when liberals want to be generous they simply advocate giving away other people’s money?

Why is it that compassion to a democrat generally means giving a public union worker more power?

  16. LeePHilI says:

    “CT8 says:
Aug. 30, 2012 at 1:30 pm You would not post such nonsense if you were so confident.”

Which begs the question….”why do you post such nonsense as you do?”

Note how quiet the Republicans are today on the issue of factchecking Ryan’s speech, along with the cheerleading by Scott Walker. The airwaves and internet are burning up with the news about how those two got exposed for lying about Obama’s visit to Wisconsin in February of 2008 and the GOP is trying to ignore it. I watched FOX hand softballs to Ryan on a personal interview and try to establish a story to cover the lie, but it’s not working.

  17. LeePHilI says:

“Republicans will gain traction with women and minorities.”

Now, THERE is an admission that they are in trouble with women and minorities. Fascinating.

White males make up 36 percent of the American voters. Gallup shows white men prefer Romney – 58 to 34.

So, Romney has 20% of the voters wrapped up? Wonderful, but I think it will take over 50% of all voters to win.
    ——————————————

Why is it that when liberals want to be generous they simply advocate giving away other people’s money?

How is it possible to “give away other people’s money” (tax) without giving away your own? That which is taxed on Republicans is also taxed on liberals.

You see, this is just more of the rhetorical nonsense that the Republicans would like you to sop up. Sorry, GOPs, we are a little smarter than that.

  18. ErnestTBass says:

If you voted for Obama to prove to yourself and your friends that you’re not a racist, you have to vote for someone else in this November election to prove you’re not an IDIOT.

  19. LeePHilI says:

Since a vote is private and you don’t have to disclose it, only an idiot would vote for someone to prove they are or aren’t racist.

  20. “Obama has stolen $716 Billion from Medicare to start up Obamacare”

You mean the same $716 billion that the Ryan budget cuts?

“Obama has banned charter school participation”

You lie. “Obama’s stimulus package included $100 billion for education, which he claims saved about 300,000 jobs. It also funded his Race to the Top grants for states, which have received praise even from some Republicans for promoting school turnarounds, better teacher evaluations, AND CHARTER SCHOOLS.” http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/DC-Decoder/2012/0827/Obama-vs.-Romney-101-5-differences-on-education/K-12-spending

  21. took14theteam says:

I see the D_Hills are at it again, as usual.

Those buckets must be mighty heavy carrying all that water for BHO.

  22. Funny that the stimulus has be a taboo topic for the left, now it was great again? “Saved or created”. Lol! A trillion bucks later a few union jobs were saved and green energy donators were paid back 10x. Only 10% went to infrastructure. Some “investment”. His chance to do something grand fell flat.

Hill Sr, you watched a far left website show a clip of Ryan’s interview. Stop lying.

  23. took14theteam says:

I wonder if BHO ever lied in a speech.

    :::::Thinking Smiley:::::

Kinda makes you wonder, if you didn’t have two buckets strapped to a pole hanging over your shoulders…..

  24. took14theteam says:

And I will wait for those “25” journalists to document BHO’s lies in his upcoming speech.

  25. LeePHilI says:

CT…one of these days you’ll avoid prattling on and not look so ridiculous.

Why would a “far left website” throw softballs to Ryan to help with a coverup story? FOX. Bret Baier. Today. I’d say “live”, but you never know with FOX.

How much of the “trillion” (about 15% less than that, but being accurate doesn’t count in Republicanland) was nothing but tax cuts to pacify the TEA Party, who controls the Republican Party?

You can’t invest tax cuts…..anyone skilled in budgeting should know that….oh, wait….nevermind. I forgot who I was talking to.

We Democrats are willing to talk Stimulus all night long. First, you have to have a command of the subject and second you can’t lie about it.

  26. LeePHilI says:

Took14 – It’s one thing to project a campaign promise and not fulfill it. It’s another thing to flat out lie about recent history.

I think we’d all love to see you cite a few examples of Obama lying about the past in the campaign speech. It would be a refreshing break from your obsession with “e” and I.

  27. slasmith says:

Government doesn’t “invest” in anything, it just spends the fruits of other peoples investments.

  28. LeePHilI says:

I think this link is better.

  29. LeePHilI says:

    Sally Kohn, FOX News:

“On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.”

  30. took14theteam says:

    Heavy buckets…..

  31. LeePHilI says:

    ::::jeopardy theme in background:::::

    …waiting for that list….

Took14 doesn’t have a very long attention span on substantive subject matter.

  32. ” see the D_Hills are at it again, as usual.

Those buckets must be mighty heavy carrying all that water for BHO”

What a great job of refuting what I said. You truly are an intellectual giant.

  33. Do you know who Sally Kohn is? Thanks for proving FNC shows a balance in their pundits.

Are you going to quote Maddow next? What a joke. Keep talking about your glory days bookkeeping with an abacus.

The BHO admin tossed tax payer (really china’s) money into the wind and now it is the Tea Party’s fault???? Please keep this up. An archive of your comments will make any rational youth a republican fo life.

  34. As been pointed out on numerous occasions, the 1% has the money, in a war we will have the weapons….the phony statically 99% (about 40%)maybe less doesn’t…your talk is simplistic and futile…

  35. According to Fox News columnist Sally Kohn, vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday “was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech.”

  36. took14theteam says:

“one of these days you’ll avoid prattling on and not look so ridiculous.”

Another example of hypocrisy for all to see…

  37. took14theteam says:

As for a couple of BHO’s lies, how about:

    1. This will be the most transparent administration ever.

    2. Every bill will be posted on the Internet for the American people to read it before I sign it.

    3. If I don’t get this done in 3 years, this will be a one term presidency.

  38. tree_guy says:

“In the primary justification for the stimulus package, the Obama administration and Democratic proponents presented a graph in January 2009 showing the projected unemployment rate with and without the ARRA.[3] The graph showed that if ARRA was not enacted the unemployment rate would exceed 9%; but if ARRA was enacted it would never exceed 8%”

The president’s own projections were wildly optimistic and we never got the sub-8% unemployment rate that we paid over $800B for. But let’s not look at critical information like this, let’s listen to what somebody who isn’t the president and lives in Lubbock Texas had to say.

  39. LeePHilI says:

“we never got the sub-8% unemployment rate that we paid over $800B for”

    I’ll ask one more time…..

How much of the stimulus was tax cuts? You can’t spend tax cuts.

  40. tree_guy says:

Lee, Obama promised sub 8% unemployment rate. Did we get that or not?

  41. LeePHilI says:

    “took14theteam says:
Aug. 31, 2012 at 6:23 am As for a couple of BHO’s lies, how about:
    1. This will be the most transparent administration ever.
    2. Every bill will be posted on the Internet for the American people to read it before I sign it.
    3. If I don’t get this done in 3 years, this will be a one term presidency.”

    Reading comprehension time….

First of all, as I said, there is a difference between campaign promises not fulfilled and lying about the recent past. Took14 can’t decipher the difference.

    Aside from that, someone rational,

(1)please explain how you determine which Administration is the most transparent…..

    (2) tell us which bills have not been posted on the internet (as if all of them aren’t already)…..

    (3) since he hasn’t gotten elected he still is possibly a one term president, thus he has not lied about that…unless you are conceding the 2012 election to him right now…

  42. LeePHilI says:

    Tree-guy –

Is that a lie, or a campaign promise unfulfilled?

What part does Congress play in that? Did Obama put a jobs bill before the House of Representatives?

How can tax breaks create jobs? If tax breaks create jobs, why are we having employment problems when there have been tax breaks for the past 13 years?

Try a little intellectual honesty in your talking points.

  43. So the stimulus was not a jobs bill? Interesting spin.

Shovel ready, 8%, etc. come on Hill

  44. tree_guy says:

You want “intellectual honesty” but you are unwilling to provide yes or no responses to simple questions.

In 2009 President Obama offered a stimulus plan costing over $800B and indicated that if the plan was passed as outlined that unemployment could be held to under 8%.

Did America get what it paid for?

That’s a yes or no question, Mr. “Intellectual Honesty.” I can hardly wait for your incoherent off-point response.

  45. LeePHilI says:

CT….Were there no jobs created by the $20 million invested in Paul Ryan’s district? Paul said there were.

How many Republican governors mugged for the cameras holding their Stimulus checks and telling their constitutents how this money was creating jobs in their state?

Look, gang. We get it. This is the new talking point since the Eastwood thing fell flat on its keester last night and got more press than Romney’s speech. We also know that out of 4,000 words in the speech, economic recovery got 180 words.

    Quit bluffing, it gets tiresome.

  46. According to Fox News columnist Sally Kohn…

    You mean this Sally Kohn:

    http://sallykohn.com

bB, she’s a paid liberal political “commentator, grassroots strategist and (her words) Pragmatic radical”. Her viewpoint is far left – you know, Juan Williams, etc. She’s expected to present an opinion contrary to that of conservatives… it’s part of that whole fair and balanced thing.

Jus trying to think of who NBC’s Sally Kohn is…

  47. Is that a lie, or a campaign promise unfulfilled?

Uhhm, Larry, the empty seat used that as justification for ramming the stimuless act down our throats after he ascended to the empty throne.

    Nice try.

  48. LeePHilI says:

Tree-guy – I’m incoherent if I don’t follow your trunicated version of recent history? Geez….I’m sorry that I won’t lap up the Republican pablum.

Let’s take a look at what the President REALLY said….OK???

    Well…here’s one clarification:

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/jul/09/eric-cantor/Cantor-and-other-republicans-say-obama-promised-s/

    “Mostly false”

You see, the problem with discourse with you and the rest of the CONS is that you start the discussion with a lie and expect me to respond to the lie. That’s not going to work.

When you have a truth to question me on, feel free. In the meantime, I’ll just debunk the lies you’ve chosen to swallow.

  49. LeePHilI says:

Clam…regardless of Kohn’s political lean….FOX was not obligated to publish the op piece. When you can dispute Kohn’s details of the Ryan dishonesty, feel free.

“jamming down throats” – the new CONS term for “passing legislation”.

Here are Kohn’s points. I’ll look for your debunk or failure:

Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling.

Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush. Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to prevent other plants from closing.

Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn’t what the president said. Period.

Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget plan.

  50. tree_guy says:

Lee, I never posted that the President “said” anything. You don’t read carefully, and therefore you aren’t able to provide a proper response. I said he “indicated.” His indication was referring to a chart that his staff had prepared. But you did confirm one thing for me. Your responses are incoherent and off-topic.

  51. LeePHilI says:

    tree_guy says:
Aug. 31, 2012 at 7:23 am Lee, Obama promised sub 8% unemployment rate. Did we get that or not?

    Intellectual honesty….in spades.

As to your problem with “coherent”:

    http://giraffian.com/dictionary

  52. ‘Can do Better’ – You betcha – which is why I’ll be voting for Obama rather than Romney/Ryan or any other Rpot.

Jintz – what you all don’t have is a brain.

CT – the only way Republicans will gain traction will be to deny their platform and reform their basic core belief. Or they will lie – something they are so good at because they do it so much.

ETB – wrong – to avoid voting for idiots don’t vote for Republicans or TEApots.
TG – in spite of the obstructionism of the Rpots in Congress, Obama got unemployment down to 8.3%.
PS: How much of the $800 billion was spent, and how much went to pay bonus for the bankers and stockbrokers who destroyed our economy?

  53. Clam…regardless of Kohn’s political lean….FOX was not obligated to publish the op piece.

LMAO, thanks for endorsing the accuracy of “fair and balanced”. Still looking for NBC’s Sally Kohn.

LIE: the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling.

FACT: S&P lowered the credit rating AFTER the debt ceiling was raised because they know as well as anyone with more than a “P” in their skull that raising the debt ceiling without even touching the causes of our spiraling deficit spending is just kicking the can down the road.

LIE: Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shut down of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, , the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush.

FACT: Full text – Portion of Ryans speech in question:

President Barack Obama came to office during an economic crisis, as he has reminded us a time or two. Those were very tough days, and any fair measure of his record has to take that into account. My home state voted for President Obama. When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it, especially in Janesville, where we were about to lose a major factory.

A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: “I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.” That’s what he said in 2008.

Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight.

Where does it say “0bama shut down the plant”?

And according to the Janesville Gazette, the plant closed in April, 2009:

    http://gazettextra.com/news/2009/feb/19/gm-plant-last-day-finalized/

What Ryan said is that 0bama claimed he would keep the plant open. Guess that would be another example of failed “hope and change”.

LIE: Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn’t what the president said.

FACT: That’s exactly what he, other democrats, and his reelection committee members have said on MULTIPLE occasions.

LIE: Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement rates.

So, when Sebelius admits the so-called savings were “double counted”, the additional 100% counted does not in fact represent a hidden cut?

    http://www.healthcarebs.com/2011/03/05/video-hhs-secretary-admits-to-double-counting-on-obamacare-funding/

I realized it must gall you libs to no end that the Republican ticket includes a VP nominee that actually has a plan, not to mention a brain, but your Ryan-whining is really going beyond boring.

  54. aislander says:

SOME people have bought this line of crap since Marx first proposed it (as some kind of bad joke, I think) and Erickson is just one more in a long line of suckers.

Wealth doesn’t exist by accident, waiting to be redistributed in a way that our betters believe to be fair; it must be created so that ALL will have the opportunity to have more.

These loony, left-wing “solutions” are the best way to ensure we all have less…

  55. “How much of the stimulus was tax cuts? You can’t spend tax cuts.”

About $550 billion was spending, and about $275 billion was tax cuts.

  56. Investors.com has an interesting piece today about ” fact checkers”. After this Ryan mess they should all be embarrassed.

Funny how some here just fell over themselves when the factually incorrect stories regarding Ryan began to fly. Obviously he is a huge threat to the dems.

  57. LIE: “S&P lowered the credit rating AFTER the debt ceiling was raised because they know …”
FACT: The very first reason S&P gave for lowering the credit rating was “the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling”.

LIE: “What Ryan said is that 0bama claimed he would keep the plant open.”
FACT: Obama didn’t say “he would keep that plant open”.

DECEPTION: “the plant closed in April, 2009″
FACT: GM announced the decision to close the plant in June 2008: http://archives.media.gm.com/archive/documents/domain_3/docId_46161_pr.html. The last vehicle rolled off the assembly line December 23, 2008: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/files/2012/08/LastGMBannerPose_t715.jpg.

LIE: “he, other democrats, and his reelection committee members have said on MULTIPLE occasions.”
FACT: Obama didn’t say such a thing. Ever.

  58. “Investors.com has an interesting piece today about ”fact checkers”.

Investors Business Daily could have used some fact-checkers themselves when they falsely claimed that Obama was a secret Muslim.

Investors Business Daily could have used some fact-checkers themselves when they falsely claimed that the healthcare bill would outlaw all private health insurance.

Investors Business Daily could have used some fact-checkers themselves when they falsely claimed that Steven Hawking would die due to National Health in Great Britain.

Today, Investors Business Daily falsely claimed that “he plant didn’t close in December 2008. It was still producing cars until April 2009″. And yet: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/files/2012/08/LastGMBannerPose_t715.jpg

  59. Let’s face it, we are talking semantics. The left is trying to say BHO isn’t that terrible, the right is saying he is awful.

Economy is terrible. FACT. Debt is out of control. FACT. Worst recovery since WWII. FACT.

    Enough blame.

  60. FACT – Congress is responsible for the DEBT.

FACT- Ryan budget adds trillions to debt.

FACT – Obama is better than Romney.

  61. LeePHilI says:

    “CT8 says:

Yes, we are aware of the multiple hit pieces Investors.com has done on Obama.

Here’s one. I wonder if they did the same piece on Romneycare…

    http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/032312-605433-obamacare-ominously-similar-to-soviet-socialized-medicine.htm

  62. “Economy is terrible. FACT.”

No, that’s an opinion. Don’t feel too bad though. Lots of zealots confuse their opinions with facts, so you aren’t alone.

  63. Clamat0 – weren’t you the one who was crowing about the hit piece on Obama published by the Daily Beast/Newsweek….claiming that it didn’t matter if it was a known conservative blogger who wrote the article, what matters is WHERE it was published?

So were you wrong then or wrong now?

  64. aislander – if you think Marx was telling a joke I’m guessing you are talking about Groucho ‘cuz Karl wasn’t exactly known as a comedian.

  65. LeePHilI says:

“Economy is terrible. FACT. Debt is out of control. FACT. Worst recovery since WWII. FACT.”

Economy is “terrible”. Compared to what? This economy is nothing compared to the egg laid by Republicans during the Depression. To a person like me with two small businesses and a full time job, I find it hard to complain. Considering how my investments tanked in 2008 and how they’ve recovered today, I know something is going right. Could it be better? Of course!. If the Republicans would stop their obstruction games, I’m certain the country could do even better.

“Debt is out of control” As a matter of fact, our debt, although not totally arrested, is growing at a slower rate than during the previous administation and much slower than it did during the Reagan Administration, when the debt almost tripled. You’ll not cut yourself out of debt. It takes revenue as well, but the Republicans refuse to consider than, despite the practical application of debt reduction.

“Worst recovery since WWII” – worst non-partisan participation on economic recovery in the history of the country. The Post-Civil War era had less filibusters than the Republicans have pulled in the past three years.

It’s one thing to pull baseless assertions out of your keester, but it’s downright dishonest to not acknowledge the truth of what is taking place.

So were you wrong then or wrong now?”

OUCH!!!! That slap had to hurt!!!!

The left wing fear mongering sure did take its toll on ol’ Earl.

“The poor and middle class will not stand silent”

Let’s hope not. I used to be poor. I used to walk with my eyes following the curb, and pick up change that people might have dropped. This was usually on my way up to Safeway, where I’d buy a melon every couple of days. I borrowed a hundred dollars from my mom once, one of the hardest things I ever did was to walk over to her house with my hand out, and rather than b!tch about my station in life, I made a promise to myself.

I’m not wealthy, just an average middle class guy, but that wouldn’t have happened if all I did was whine and demand that people give me some of their money. Get with the program, Earl, instead of popping off about the 99%, you need to zip the taco hole and go earn some of your own money.

  68. Wow, more old, defeated arguments Hill Sr.

What happened in Bush’s last year? A bubble caused by the left burst. Bush passed TARP, and it saved the economy. Cost the taxpayers nothing in the end, but made his last year’s spending appear inflated. Since then we have BHO giving away OUR money as kickbacks and buying votes.

Only in the Obama years of no budgets does t

    More self-proclaimed victories, CT.

“A bubble caused by the left burst.” Another baseless assertion.

“Bush passed TARP, and it saved the economy” Now THERE is a new baseless assertion. No, actually its a false premise. Either way, intelligent adults know better.

I’m impressed how you can spew baseless assertions and when someone puts together a fact based, cohesive argument, you declare yourself the winner. I’m guessing you failed Debate and Logic

As to “trillion deficits” becoming the norm….Ask the folks that were around from 2001 to 2009, they seemed to be doing it with regularity and not a squeak from people like you.

  71. LeePHilI says:

“Since then we have BHO giving away OUR money as kickbacks and buying votes.”

Oh…and THAT is just a plain old lie. No need for fancy terminology.

“Only in the Obama years of no budgets….”

Actually, there IS a budget, it’s called the “old budget” because of filibusters by the minority in the Senate.

Since you’ve decided to go down this road, tell us the reason for “budgets”….how do they come about and who implements them….

  72. “Wow, more old, defeated arguments”

When you can’t refute the argument, call it “old, defeated”. LOL

“What happened in Bush’s last year? A bubble caused by the left burst.”

So in one single year, the Democrats caused a bubble and burst it? Wow. How’s the tin-foil hat fitting?

    “Bush passed TARP”

Correction: Bush signed TARP. The Democrats in Congress passed it. You’re welcome for the schooling.

  73. LeePHilI says:

    Well…let’s see….

CT is going to dodge the budget question and post a link from a blog on the Heritage Foundations website….

The website is an “analysis” of a budget that he complains doesn’t exist and because the Heritage Foundation complains about a budget that doesn’t exist, I’m lying??????????????

Now, if CT only knew what the real function of a budget is, he’d probably know that the Heritage Foundation is a Right Wing think tank (propaganda machine) and that they have suckered him with the pretty charts about budgets that don’t exist.

  74. So were you wrong then or wrong now?

bB, the point is that FOX has folks like Kohl, Williams, Colmbs, etc, etc, etc, on their payroll specifically to present the left’s POV. And now, apparently (especially with the on-line merger with the Dsily Beast), so does Newsweek.

NBC? ABC? CBS? Not so much

No one should be surprised that one of those contributors would express an opinion of Ryan’s speech that is 180 degrees from reality. That’s their job. And that’s a good thing. Heck what Williams said about Ann Romney’s speech was worse.

  75. mole, go back and read your daddy’s 7:56 before you make a further fool of yourself. Everything he stated is incorrect, and no amount of re-parsing on your part will change that.

It’s time you let your daddy fight and be accountable for his own battles. These incessant rescue missions of your are truly pathetic.

  76. LeePHilI says:

Clam – Everything stated in my 7:56 comment came from FOX. If it’s wrong….FOX was wrong. (of course, you say history is wrong if you want it to be)

Your obsession with “e” and I is getting a little scary.

I have to admit, “e” laid a smack on you, but good! I had forgotten about your rant on the other blogger because, frankly, I play games with you and then generally forget about it the next day. That’s how much you mean to me in the big picture.

  77. Clammi-dia,

Let’s review your words: “What Ryan said is that 0bama claimed he would keep the plant open.”

    1. Obama did not say he’d keep the plant open.

    2. GM announced the closure of the Wisconsin plant in June of 2008, six months before Obama was sworn in, and the last vehicle rolled off the assembly line in December, 2008, a month before Obama was sworn in.

PS. I’ll stop calling you “clammi-dia” when you stop calling me names. Deal?

  78. sandblower says:

The bailout worked. The stimulus worked even as small as it was. Obama has done a great job considering the obstacles thrown in his way by the extreme right. We are on the road to universal healthcare. The opportunities for Supreme Court Justice replacement to a more reasoned liberal court are palpable.
Ryan and Romney are a disaster waiting to happen.
The answer is 4 more years for Obama as President of the USA.

  79. took14theteam says:

I thought our justice system was supposed to be blind.

So you want a court that proclaims to be left leaning?

Why don’t you go blow somewhere else.

  80. Clam – Everything stated in my 7:56 comment came from FOX.

LMAO! charliebucket would be so proud of you!

  81. 0bama, February, 2008:

“And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years.”

Like I said “hope and change” – fail. When the Government Motors bailout took place, I guess that didn’t include “support” for the Janesville plant. Instead we got “dope and chains”.

GM announced the closure of the Wisconsin plant in June of 2008, six months before Obama was sworn in.

I know, I know, it hurts to read the truth in the Janesville Gazette… but try. The plant closed in April, 2009. Only one line was shut down before the empty chair was anointed.

Oh well, what’s another broken promise.

PS. Wahtever. I adopted the moniker Clamat0 because your daddy was fond of using it as an abuse of my former moniker. And you’ve been more than compliant with his standards as well. Truth is, I could care less what anyone calls me, obviously.

Call me whatever you like, but you should expect to be treated in kind.

Going forward, if you’d like to try being more… uh-humm, civil, I promise reciprocity in that regard as well.

I have my doubts you can fly very far on the straight and narrow though.

Now you are going to hurt the _Hill’s feelings, and we will have to endure the clichés’……

  83. sandblower says:

so tool, you think the court with Alito, Thomas and what’s his name is blind? That tells us again a great deal about how warped your views are, but we already knew that.

  84. “And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to re-tool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years.”

Nope, not one word promising to keep the plant open. Nice tray. Failed as usual, but nice.

  85. sandblower says:

tool1, the difference being that the so-called liberal Justices promote increases in human rights that are a benefit to all while the Justices on the far right constantly attempt to restrict any advance. The question is, why is the right so against progress in the human rights arena?

  86. took14theteam says:

    Whatever.

You just want everyone to have to live the way you believe they should live.
