ELECTION: Heck supports common-sense legislation

Re: “Muri shows middle-class values” (letter, 8-16).

I was struck by the many false claims and half-truths in this letter supporting Pierce County Councilman Dick Muri for U.S. Congress, mostly about the Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Obama – a law which I strongly support, and so does Denny Heck.

Heck will be a solid voice for middle-class residents of the 10th Congressional District by supporting laws such as the Affordable Care Act which introduce common-sense reforms into the health insurance market, prohibit insurance companies from denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and slow the growth of Medicare by $700 billion – not just cutting money from the program as the writer claims.

Heck has also promised to reduce our deficit in a responsible, balanced way by asking the most fortunate to pay their fair share and removing waste from programs while not cutting benefits.

Furthermore, Heck has pledged to not use any super PAC money in his campaign. I admire his integrity by not using undisclosed donations from those who do not have the interest of middle-class Americans in mind.

Those are the middle-class values I have and that Heck will represent in Congress.

  1. If prop passes, by law, Pierce Transit cannot ask for another rate hike; can any state agency make that claim? All of you no voters, can you claim you will never have a pay raise? The only capped agency that o know of…….

  2. If it were not a gerrymandered district specifically designed for Heck, he would have no chance. It was a typical trade made by that corrupt wanker Slade Gorton who did this in trade to similarly rig another district for the GOPs most intellectually challenged member, Dave Reichert.

Pretty sad times for Washington when it takes shenanigans to orchestrate safe seats for Heck and Reichert.

Gorton should simply disappear. He got booted for a reason.

Now we have Heck as his gift.

Can’t wait to send a letter to my next congressman, Dick Muri

  5. Why must we endure these phony LTE’s?

And why are they placed at the front of the line?

  6. GHTaxPayer says:

Heck is a Hack that will vote to raise our taxes, give our benefits to illegal aliens, and increase the size of government to unsustainable proportions. He has already vowed to do all of the above.

Heck is the problem, not the solution.

  7. jimkingjr says:

Heck has committed to take away workers right to a secret ballot on whether or not to join a union- that is good for the middle class? The worker has a card put in front of him to sign, in the open- no chance then to express his real opinion privately. Denny Heck is a tool of organized labor, who needs coercive measures because when workers get a choice, they flee the organizers and the unions.

  8. blakeshouse says:

No surprises here… The socialists are all cheering for this hand puppet for the unions. To bad the rest of the people of the Socialist State of Washington have to suffer this union hack

  9. LeePHill says:

That must be the opposite of “anti-socialists”

  10. aislander says:

    No–the opposite of “freedom…”

  11. blakeshouse says:

May as well emboss the hammer and scythe over the state flag. Unfortunately those who support the socialists on the ticket have less sense and reasoning than a rock.
