Kaiser Health News reported that a survey they conducted in late July and early August with the Washington Post found that 55 percent of Republicans surveyed wanted to keep Medicare as it is, with 53 percent of independents and 68 percent of Democrats concurring.
Who do people like Ryan and other conservative Republicans listen to when pontificating on Medicare? I knew they did not listen to Democrats and independents, but now I see they do not listen to or represent the majority in their own party.
Moderate Republicans are being ignored, and God forbid there would be a liberal Republican in their midst.
If the Republican leadership in the Senate and in the House (and the rest of their gang) would represent their constituency, the Senate and the House could have legislated. But, alas, they are not there for that.
Ask Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell what he spent his energies on these last four years and we start to see why this Congress is unproductive and so maligned.
And, please do not tell me the Democrats are equally to blame. They are representing their constituency very well.
