TRIBES: No proof that prosecutorial power against non-Indians is necessary

The article (TNT, 8-13) about tribes seeking prosecution power against non-Indians was interesting, but I saw no real credible evidence the tribes even need this measure.

Where’s the data from reliable sources (not the Democrats’ less-than-reliable think tanks) that this law is even needed? Who’s against violence against women? Everyone, of course. There are now plenty of local, state and federal laws now in force to deal with the non-Indians committing crimes both on and off the reservation. We don’t need more to gum up the prosecution’s chances.

What we do have is Sen. Patty Murray trying to drum up some hay (translation: donations) for the Democrats. She can please numerous groups (NARAL, tribes, etc.) with this bill and therefore get more political donations from them.

Her attempt to pander and secure party donations is just too obvious.

Wow, a politican pander for votes. Mr. Hoffecker will discover steam next.

  2. GHTaxPayer says:

Patty Murray and Dems also support Muslims to hold Shariya law trials to stone women who uncover their hair and face in public, vote, commit adultery or adopt western values.

Are any of you old enough to remember when the Dems went to war to keep slaves? (Hint: Civil War)

  3. aislander says:

So…why would Southern Democrats quit the party that mostly voted AGAINST civil-rights laws to join the party that mostly voted FOR them.

After all, the Eisenhower admin was pushing for a Civil Rights Act in 1957. It was shot down by Dems and didn’t surface again until eight years later…

  4. averageJose says:

    True that aislander… true that.

  5. fanciladi says:

    Yup…that’s Patty Murray for you… :(

  6. lylelaws says:

The last time I heard every member of the Puyallup Tribe of Indians (men women and children) get about $2,000 a month just for being tribal members, aqnd now Patty Murray wants to give them the power to prosecute non-Indians?

If Indian reservations are sovereign nations why shouldn’t tribal members be required to get visas when they leave the reservations?

Their ancesters were treated badly, but not nearly as badly as African Americans were.

Patty Murray is interested in raising money, period

  7. Hours later and no response from Hills. Probably waiting on a response back from the DNC.

  8. Where is the data from reliable sources (no right wing sources allowed) that ‘voter photo id laws are needed’?

GHT – prove that there has been a single Sharia Law stoning in the US.

Aislander – go look up Nixon’s Southern Strategy.

  9. The tribes don’t follow the white man laws any way. Their was an instance were they pulled over a non-Indian on tribal land who was wanted by the Sheriff dept and were just let go instead of turning the person over to the sheriffs dept. My wife’s friend who is white had two kids by and Indian he was required to pay child support by the non-Indian court which he failed to pay, but since he lived on a reservation the tribal elders didn’t care whether he paid it or not. SO they don’t always enforce the laws no matter who’s laws they are.

Well…could it be that the Republikkkan Party have become the racists and the “moderate” Republicans that helped civil rights no longer exist?

Naaaaaaaaawwww….couldn’t be that, could it? Nothing ever changes, does it?

    “CT7 says:

Nope. Probably working…a foreign subject to CT7.

One of us has to pay taxes and the other gets to pay none, according to you. I’m the one that pays.

  12. LeePHill says:

Did William happen to notice that Senator Murray isn’t up for re-election?

There went a perfectly good rant-to-the-editor out the window.
