MARRIAGE: Irony in absolutes

After reading “Wedding signals a sea change” (TNT, 8-13) on the front page, no matter what your opinion is about same-sex marriage, please turn to page 3 to read the article headlined, “$10,000 slaying alleged.”

The seventh and eighth paragraphs tell about a married couple’s relationship since May when “he fractured her eye socket and she got a no-contact order against him.”

Does anyone else see the irony in the absolute “one man, one woman” argument and the concern for the sanctity of marriage?

  1. Frankenchrist says:

We must preserve the Holy sanctity of wife killing, wife beating, husband killing, husband beating, child abusers, and other wonderful aspects of traditional marriage.

Jesus Christ wouldn’t want it any other way!!

  2. ThePrincipledPatriot says:

Wife killing? Wife beating, etc.? Are you talking about Christian or Muslim marriages? There’s a world of differnce between the two.

Second, do a search on the abuse statistics on heterosexual marriages v. homosexual “marriages.” You will find that there is no comparison. Physical, emotional and mental abuse in homosexual “marriages” and homosexual “relationships” are significantly higher than the abuse in heterosexual marriages. Significantly higher! Especially when you look at only the lesbian “marriages” and “relationships” statistics.

On the other-hand, I would expect nothing less from an individual that goes by FrankenChrist!

  3. LeePHill says:

“The members of the Bell West Orange Heights Baptist Church were left without a church leader yesterday after their pastor was detained for allegedly subjecting his wife to a horrific beating.
The 33-year-old woman, who had visible injuries to her face and upper body, alleged that she was kicked
several times by her spouse on Friday night.
She told Kaieteur News that the beating was not the first she had received at the hands of her husband but it was one of the worst”

I guess the subject is Christian marriages.

  4. LeePHill says:

“Second, do a search on the abuse statistics on heterosexual marriages v. homosexual “marriages.” You will find that there is no comparison.”

CORRECT – there is NO COMPARISON.

    Next?

  5. aislander says:

So…since something is not perfect–although generally recognized as good–we should completely change its meaning? Some logic…

  6. aislander says:

I am reminded, by the way, of that Seattle doctor who recently murdered his same-sex partner/wife/husband…

  7. bobcat1a says:

OOOOH, dueling non sequiturs! I am SO impressed.
I wonder if The News Tribune could have an article printed on logical fallacies. Might elevate the discourse here.

  8. TPP- Studies show that 1 In 6 married couples report abuse. Research indicates that domestic violence among same-sex couples occurs at similar rates as domestic violence among straight couples.

  9. HistoryFan says:

NEW FLASH EVERYONE. Homosexuals and hetersexuals are both presdisposed to being human. Passion and tension is high in any relationship.

Concentrate on the basic corp question. Does a homosexual have the right to force everyone to redefine marriage, which has been between one man and one woman since the earliest recorded history.

  10. Wrong again HistoryFan.

Look up the history of St. Serge and St. Bacchus. I’ll help you get started by providing a link:
    http://www.gaychristian101.com/Gay-Marriage.html

  11. LeePHill says:

    Great website, beerBoy.

    Someone is doing their homework

  12. averageJose says:

Were Serge and Bacchus homo sexual pedophile priests too?

  13. ThePrincipledPatriot says:

    beerBoy/LeePHill,

    “Homosexual Christian?” (gaychristian101)

Now that defines contradictory! First homosexuals want to redefine/undefine marriage. Now they want to redefine/undefine a Christian.

    beerBoy,

For God’s command for marriage, look to the New Testament only!

  14. what is a “homo sexual pedophile”?

  15. with your continual references to “homo sexual pedophiles”, am I to understand that you don’t have a problem with pedophiles who prey upon opposite genders?

Again – pedophiles can’t really be labeled as hetero or homosexual as they aren’t attracted to men or women but are attracted to children. If you went to any of the sites that I have provided URLs for in response to your previous references to “homosexual pedophiles” you would know this.

  16. ThePrincipledPatriot says:

    beerBoy,

What would ever lead you to believe or even to ask the question if “I don’t have a problem with opposite-gender pedophiles? Now that is beyond all! Looks like you are the one that doesn’t have a problem with homosexual pedophiles? Are you a member of NAMBLA?

We are talking about the sinful behavior of homosexuality and their demand that they have the bogus constitutional right to undefine marriage for all of society.

Why do you keep bringing up pedophilia? Want to clear your conscience about something.

  17. TPP – Nice attempt at smearing me because I have done my research about pedophiles and understand – based upon the research – that pedophilia is about adults preying upon children – PERIOD. “Homosexual pedophiles” is a non-sensical term. They are pedophiles.

You will be interested to know that homosexuals, as a group, tend to have LESS pedophilia than us heterosexuals do. But then again….that doesn’t fit into your world view so, like aJ, you will just pretend that that research doesn’t exist.

Your morality and your sense of “sin” doesn’t interest me and, since this is still not a theocracy, not relevant to the discussion of the State determining who can enter into legal marriage contracts.

My marriage to my wife is in no way threatened by opening up the “club” to homosexuals. If you are so concerned about protecting the sanctity of the word “marriage” you should be working a little harder to stop divorces and sham marriages as – even if all the homosexuals did get married – there still would be a heck of a lot more heteros giving the institution a bad name.

  18. To put it more plainly – pedophilia is a vile crime. aJ’s attempt to connect homosexuality with pedophilia is vile and not supported by any research – more to the point – has nothing to do with this thread. TPP’s attempt to pile on is vile.

  19. averageJose says:

“with your continual references to “homo sexual pedophiles”, am I to understand that you don’t have a problem with pedophiles who prey upon opposite genders?”

    Nice attempt to smear me.

Why must I still remind you why an adult male who prefers other males ,under a specified age, would not be a homo sexual?

    Kooky.

    vile LMAO! vile

  20. ignorance is….average Jose.

  21. averageJose says:

… so your ad-hominem fall back routine… predictable.
