MEDIA: Fox News misinforms viewers

According to Jon Stewart, Fox News viewers are the most misinformed people in America. I agree. Misinformed, not uninformed. Proof:

• While scientists have concluded global warming is real, Fox News reports that the science is still in doubt.

• While the Obama administration has done nothing to restrict the use or ownership of guns, Fox News glibly reports on a fictional U.N. treaty that intends to remove guns from the citizens of the U.S. (The NRA is behind this, too.)

• While the oil companies played with raising gas prices this past spring, Fox News reported that the Obama administration was behind these increases, even speculating that Obama wanted them higher still.

• While the U.S. House of Representatives, through what it has tried to do and what it has blocked, has done nothing to improve our economic situation, Fox News blames the poor state of the economy on the Obama administration alone. Think back to the debt ceiling debate.

No, the information provided by Fox News is carefully screened by Rupert Murdoch, rich oligarchs and corporate powers. The federal government is far more benign and on the people’s side than corporate interests.

I hope Fox viewers also realize that the tea party is funded by the Koch Brothers – astroturf rather than grass roots. Viewers need to look for facts outside Fox News, get informed and vote their interests.
